Relapse rates are not entirely certain, but the National Institute on Drug Abuse places them at anywhere from 40% to 60%. Some people relapse early in recovery, while others may stay sober as long as twenty years or more before relapsing. However, addiction remains very treatable, and relapse can be avoided by taking the right precautions. Some relapse prevention measures are strictly preventative, while others are more proactive. All relapse prevention techniques are taught at Safe & Sound Treatment, so those who make use of them will stand a much greater chance at maintaining their sobriety.

Position: Women’s Sober Living House Manager
Hours: On-Site

Safe & Sound Treatment is a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facility located in Costa Mesa/Huntington Beach. We’re looking for enthusiastic individual who is passionate about helping others. Must be able to take direction well and have effective communication and people skills. Experience necessary. Must pass drug screening, and have a valid driver's license. Duties include making sure residents attend scheduled treatment groups, maintain daily chores, conduct random UA testing and breathalyzing as well as enforcing nightly curfew. This position shares responsibilities with another on-site house manager. Possibility for growth with the company.

Drug addiction treatment addresses both the physical and mental components of addiction. Physical cravings diminish over time, but the mental obsession often remains. To complicate matters, many addicts suffer from co-occurring disorders such as anxiety and depression. Safe & Sound Treatment helps addicts recover by addressing these issues while also providing them with necessary recovery tools such as therapy, addiction education, holistic methods and a strong support system. As they learn to utilize these tools in their ongoing recovery, they are kept in a safe space in which they are unable to use drugs or alcohol. This allows them to discover the joys of sober living while mitigating the chances of relapse.

“Almost 7 months ago I traveled across the country to Safe & Sound treatment, leaving behind my entire (unmanageable) life and I haven't looked back since. I came here broken and desperate. The owners Mary and Rob took a chance and invited me into their Safe & Sound family, without even knowing who I was. Many 12-step programs exist for addicts who struggle with a particular drug of choice. Examples include HA for he**in addicts and CA for co***ne addicts. Additionally, many 12-step programs help people deal with particular behaviors that have had a negative impact on their lives. Among the more common such programs are SAA for s*x addicts, OA for overeaters and CoDA for those who struggle with codependency. Some programs cater to the family members of addicts, the most common being Al-Anon, Alateen, Nar-Anon, Co-Anon and ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics). If you or a family member struggle with an addiction of any kind, the odds of finding a suitable 12-step program are generally in your favor. Addiction treatment is all about teaching a new way of life. Within this new way of living, guests are encouraged to practice tools and skills that will make their lives easier in sobriety. However, when it comes to having fun in sobriety, many guests are unsure how that could happen. We hear guests all the time state that they haven’t had a true belly-laugh; and for people who for years have needed substances to have fun, this process of true fun— without the use of substances— is absolutely freeing.
