We're thrilled to introduce Della, one of our newest residents who has already made a lasting impression on everyone here. Della has quickly found her place and has become an integral part of our community.

Della's warm and welcoming personality has shone through from the moment she arrived. She thrives in the company of others and has a natural knack for bringing people together. Whether brushing the rabbit, lending a hand in the library, or participating in group activities, Della's enthusiasm and energy are contagious.

Della's love for animals is evident in her joyful interactions with our furry friends, and her compassionate nature extends to her interactions with staff and fellow residents alike. She's always there to lend a listening ear, offer a helping hand, or share a smile.

Not only is Della deeply caring and empathetic, but she's also incredibly proactive. Already, she's been rallying people to join groups and events, spreading positivity wherever she goes.

It's time to spotlight Becky, our exceptional evening nurse and manager! Becky is not just a valued team member; she's a beloved presence who brightens the lives of everyone she encounters.

Becky seamlessly navigates between floors as our evening manager, ensuring every resident receives the care and attention they deserve. Her dedication to her work is evident in her excellent bedside manners and unwavering commitment to putting residents first.

But Becky's impact goes beyond her nursing skills. She's also a beacon of support and encouragement for her fellow staff members, always looking out for their well-being and fostering a positive work environment.

Just a group of friends who get together to cook favorite recipes, that’s Taste of MLC!
We made super easy, but yummy corndog muffins. Our residents said they miss having hot muffins, cookies and breads fresh out of the oven! We’d like to make more with our group, so post your favorite baked recipes! We are on the hunt for a simple banana nut bread recipe.

Let's give a big round of applause to Nick, our outstanding CNA on the evening shift, for being recognized as our Employee of the Month! Nick's exceptional personality, easy-going nature, and sense of humor have made him stand out.

Get ready for a day filled with classic cars, great company, and delicious food! Bring the whole family and enjoy a picnic-style supper while admiring some stunning automobiles.

June is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, a month dedicated to increasing understanding and support for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. 💜 While the official observation often falls during the last week of September, our commitment to raising awareness is year-round.

Did you know that 75% of the residents at the Midlands have a primary or secondary diagnosis of dementia? This statistic underscores the importance of Alzheimer’s awareness in our community. That's why we actively participate in the annual walk in September and take this cause very seriously.

📣 Stay tuned to learn how you can join us in raising awareness and supporting those affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia! Together, we can make a difference.

We didn’t get nearly enough pictures of Donna’s retirement party, because it was a FULL house and all hands were on deck. However, the love that surrounded Donna as we wished her a farewell, was proof of her incredible service she gave all of us at MLC during her 19 years with us. We had tears and laughter as we reminisced together. The amount of people who showed up for her, our Photo Booth with silly props, delicious lemon flavored and raspberry filled cake, and dilly bars from Christy Crème provided by The Dillehay family was the perfect mix to celebrate such a monumental event.
Happy retirement, Donna! To say you will be missed is an understatement!!

After 19 incredible years of dedication and service, Donna from Activities is retiring! 🌟 Donna has been an invaluable member of our team, known for her unwavering kindness, generosity, and boundless energy.

Donna's contributions have touched the lives of residents and staff alike. From taking out the trash to lending a hand in clearing off tables, she always went above and beyond to ensure everyone felt supported and cared for.

Donna's journey at Midlands began as a CNA, but about 7 years ago, she transitioned to the Activities department, where her passion for enriching the lives of others truly shined.

As we bid farewell to Donna, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for her years of hard work, dedication, and friendship. Her positive impact on our community will be felt for years to come.

Meet Marissa, our exceptional Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who has been here for 16 years! With multiple years of dedicated service under her belt, Marissa has become an invaluable member of our team and a regular go-to person for all staff.

Marissa specializes as our wound nurse, showcasing her meticulous attention to detail and compassionate care. Her expertise ensures that our residents receive the highest standard of wound care, promoting faster healing and improved quality of life.

When asked about her residents, Marissa says that "they are amazing and know how to brighten up your day if you're having a bad or stressful one." When she is not at Midlands she loves to read, play and watch sports, crafting and spending time with her pup, Nova.

Next time you see Marissa in the hallways or working diligently in our facility, be sure to say hello and express your appreciation for her hard work and dedication. We are incredibly fortunate to have Marissa as part of our Midland's family!

Let's rally around Aaron, our beloved cook! Aaron has poured his heart and soul into caring for our residents, baking delicious breads and cookies, and going above and beyond to ensure everyone feels at home. Now, it's our turn to show him some love. 💖

To support Aaron on his road to recovery from a recent illness, Sam from HR and our resident Ed have graciously offered to create beautiful artwork to sell by raffle, with the proceeds going do Aaron 🖼️✨ These paintings will be displayed at the front door, where you can admire their talent!

All proceeds from the auction or raffle will go directly towards Aaron's medical expenses, so let's come together as a community and make a difference! 🤝 To purchase raffle tickets, simply reach out to our activities team or visit the front office.

Today we had the pleasure of meeting a real life gentle giant. Meet Tank, the 41 pound snapping turtle! He’s a powerful and mighty guy, but so incredibly loving. His owner, Steve Gilfillan, blessed MLC’s staff and residents with an up close and personal meet and greet with Tank and we are so thankful! Talk about heart melt city during a once in a lifetime opportunity!

Pauline's determination to stay connected and engaged with others is truly inspiring. Her journey through complete deafness has showcased remarkable resilience and adaptability. Mastering both lip reading and sign language, she ensures she stays connected and actively involved in our community. 🤟 Her vibrant personality and warm heart make her a beloved family member, and we are so grateful to celebrate her presence and contributions."

One of Pauline's greatest passions is her love for animals, particularly dogs, horses, and our beloved rabbit. 🐶🐴🐰 Her face lights up with joy whenever she interacts with these furry friends, bringing smiles to all who witness her happiness.

Pauline's journey with us began during a challenging time, as she arrived after the peak of the Covid pandemic when masks made lip reading impossible. Despite this obstacle, Pauline's resilience and the support of our community have helped her adapt and thrive. 💪

Let's not forget about Pauline's favorite weekly activity—bingo! Her enthusiasm for this game is contagious, and we always look forward to seeing her cheerful presence brighten up our Bingo nights.

Wacky Wednesday came with lots of silliness! We had a resident laughing so hard at our attire, she was tearful and snorting! Moments like that truly fill our hearts and make our jobs incredibly rewarding. Tomorrow is Pajama Day, a popular request whenever we plan dress days. Photos to come…
