7Tribes Networks Update 2/2/2023
We have established a temporary solution to get our customers back online. Speeds and latency may vary as we work to get the system back to full capacity, thank you for your patience
-7Tribes Networks
Update: 7 Tribes Networks, 2/1/2023
To our valued customers:
We are very aware that the internet has been down for all of our customers for a little over a week now. For the first 3-4 days, it was our connecting parter who had an issue. That has now been resolved.
Over the last couple days, we have been working hard to identify other network issues. Our team has identified a device issue on Big Signal Peak, which is currently unaccessible due to it being snowed in.
Today we are going to try and setup a temporary alternate solution.
Thank you for your patience as we work to restore network connectivity.
Sincerely,
7 Tribes Networks

Road Safety in Winter Weather
As the temperature gets lower for the winter months, be cautious when driving, especially on the Covelo Road. There are certain parts of the road that never receive sunlight during the winter months. Ice stays all day long and can cause crashes. It may be a pain but driving slower will ensure you get to your destination, safely. It’s always better late than never!
Before leaving for a trip out of town or even a long trip, check your tire pressure as that tends to drop with colder weather. Also, if you must travel in weather conditions that are potentially unsafe, make sure you tell someone what route you’re taking and how long you expect to be, so that just in case someone could go looking or attempt to contact you, if you’re late.

A message from RVIT Vice President, Lewis Whipple:
Being Prepared for Travel Emergencies
Emergencies can happen anytime, anywhere. One way to stay prepared is, make sure to keep an emergency kit in your vehicle. That way you can be prepared if a travel/roadside emergency happens. Some suggested items to keep in your vehicle emergency kit are:
· A properly inflated spare tire, wheel wrench and tripod jack
· Jumper cables
· Tool kit and/or a multipurpose utility tool
· Flashlight and extra batteries
· Reflective triangles and brightly colored cloth to make your vehicle more visible
· Compass
· First aid kit with gauze, tape, bandages, antibiotic ointment, aspirin, a blanket, nonlatex gloves, scissors, hydrocortisone, thermometer, tweezers, and instant cold compress
· Nonperishable, high-energy foods, such as unsalted nuts, dried fruits, and hard candy
· Drinking water
· Reflective vest in case you need to walk to get help
· Car charger for your cell phone
· Fire extinguisher
· Duct tape
· Rain poncho
· Additional items for cold weather include a snow brush, shovel, windshield washer fluid, warm clothing, cat litter for traction and blankets
Some of these items may be hard to make sure you carry but it really does help to keep as many of these items as possible. Make sure to check your items at least every 6 months for expiration and replace anything that needs to be.
Keeping Warm in Cold Weather
As the weather cools down and we continue to experience cold nights, it can be a little difficult to stay warm. One way to help keep yourself warm is to use Heating Pads, which can be inexpensive. Even making your own heating pad with a piece of 100 percent cotton fabric and sewing in some dried beans. Afterward you can warm the homemade heating pad up in increments of 15-20 seconds until it is comfortable for you.
As you get older, it can be difficult to do but, keeping active can also help to keep yourself warm. Not so active that you sweat (which can be counter-productive and make you colder), but active enough to keep your blood flowing.
If staying active isn’t possible, dressing in layers can be an easy way to keep warm. Removing layers as you warm up to keep yourself from getting too warm and adding layers back as you cool down.
Thanksgiving Day Cooking Hazards
According to the US Fire Administration “Over half (54%) of Thanksgiving Day fires in residential buildings occurred from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., when many people are preparing Thanksgiving dinner.”
Please be careful, watch your food and enjoy the day with family and friends.
See the Fire administration’s web page for more information here:
https://www.usfa.fema.gov/statistics/reports/fire-causes/snapshot-thanksgiving.html
Data snapshot: Thanksgiving Day fires in residential buildings For each year from 2017 to 2019, an average of 2,300 home fires were reported to U.S. fire departments on Thanksgiving Day, causing 5 deaths, 25 injuries and $26 million in property loss.
Extreme/Cold Weather Tips
With the recent extremely cold weather, please make sure you stay warm. Check on your elders who may or may not have heat. Check on your friends and family daily.
To help mitigate and minimize water freezing in your water pipes, make sure to trickle your water from your sink faucets.
Please see this Red Cross webpage for additional tips:

Preventing & Thawing Frozen Pipes The Red Cross provides information and suggestions about how to prevent water pipes in the home from freezing, and how to thaw them if they do freeze.
Extreme/cold weather
Please stay warm. Make sure you check on your elders and friends. Make sure your water pipes are well insulated to keep them from freezing.
Tip: Trickle your water from sink faucets to mitigate water freezing in the pipes.
