Mystery Meat Despite my attempts to articulate the meaning of eating Jesus’ flesh and drinking His blood, it is still cloaked in Mystery. It is hard to understand because it is only something that can be spiritually discerned. Those not of the Spirit will think what Jesus says is strange and weird. This is evi...

Faith & Life in Jesus The crowd following Jesus struggled to understand who Jesus truly was. They saw Him perform miracles but failed to recognize Him as the Son of God. Jesus points out their lack of faith, emphasizing that seeing Him physically does not equate to truly knowing Him.

2024 Olympic Opening Ceremony
The Lord’s Supper or Not the Lord’s Supper? That is the question.
Right now, the buzz is whether the Opening Ceremony in Paris portrayed The Lord’s Supper or a different pagan supper referencing The Bacchanal. To learn more about this particular perspective, there is a great article shared with this post that is worth a read.
What I want to contribute to the conversation, in terms of a Christian voice, are the words of Paul, which I find to be most fitting. Not only his words, which address the truth of the matter, but also his heart in expressing the emotion of the matter.
Concerning pagans, Paul writes,
“For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things.” (Phil. 3:18-19)
But concerning Christians, Paul writes,
“Among them, we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ.” (Eph. 2:3-5)
We cannot be surprised at the world’s mockery of Christ; it should cause us to weep but also stir us up to share the gospel, which is the very thing that saved us from being an agent of mockery to a recipient of mercy. Their only hope to be saved from the wrath to come is Christ, and we are the ones who can offer Christ to them.

Understanding Jesus' Miracles In this week's sermon, we took a detour from the Gospel of Mark to explore John 6:1-21, which recounts two of Jesus' most well-known miracles: the feeding of the 5000 and Jesus walking on water. Down and Up Yesterday we learned how Jesus viewed the large crowd as sheep who are in of a Shepherd.
