From , a little about our dinner specials this weekend…
“I met Michael Jackson with my friend chef Mani Niall (Mani’s Bakery) at the Golden Temple, his favorite restaurant near Westlake Studios where he was recording Thriller. After that, I spent many years traveling with Michael as his private chef, cooking his favorite Mexican dishes all over the world. I had a special traveling pantry case for the big tours, & I was never without New Mexican red chile powder, masa harina & a tortilla press. Wherever he was in the world, he wanted enchiladas (that drove me a little crazy), & sometimes I had to make the tortillas, which were not easy to find in cities like Moscow or Prague! Today, my favorite tortillas come from my friend Sherry Mandell & farmer Alex Weiser ( ) who are partners in the . They produce all sorts of delicious, healthy non GMO grains & flours. I especially love their corn tortillas, which this week are made with Oaxacan blue corn. For dessert we have two of MJ’s favorites-Banana Cream Pie & Maple Pecan ‘Ookies’. Ookies are the nickname Michael’s bodyguards gave to the healthyish maple-pecan cookies I used to make for him except this time I’ll be using some Tehachapi Grain Flour. I hope you will come celebrate with us”

A seasonal small-plates menu featuring Global Gardens EVOOs and Balsamics, created by Akasha and perfectly paired with Future Perfect wines will be available all night. Meet Theo and Sunny for sample tastings between 6p-8p. Everyone’s favorite selections from Global Gardens and Future Perfect will be available for tasting and to purchase.
The highly allocated and praised Future Perfect Wine is made from hand-gathered fruit, hand crafted from brilliant vineyards in Santa Barbara County, California. “I am proud to source grapes from exceptional, local vineyards practicing sustainability, organic and/or biodynamic farming.”

I use for salad dressings, marinades for fish and meat, roasting vegetables (especially the blood orange), desserts, and of course, drizzled on summer tomatoes. I was never an infused olive oil fan until I tasted Theo’s blood orange, lemon and basil oils. I am so excited to have them available for purchase at AKASHA!”

Along with our dine-in menus, we also offer AKASHA At Home, a meal service with ready-to heat dishes for everyday. Our cafe stocks our AKASHA At Home meals and a selection of wine, cocktails to-go and a variety of snacks, provisions and house made goods such as jams and chutney. Patio dining with lunch and dinner is offered Wednesday through Sunday, with a separate brunch on Saturday and Sundays.
