Something entertaining to enjoy on what might be a bit of a rainy day, the Show is at Sexton Hall, Saturday September 14, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.; tickets are only $5 at the door. Enjoy the talents and creativity within our community and state!
It's baaaaack! The "Haunted History Tour", presented by the Historical Society of Cu***ng/Forsyth County and Age Well Forsyth, is back by popular demand. The tour returns to the historic Cu***ng Cemetery to learn about the lives of some of the people buried there. Tours will be Friday October 25th and Saturday October 26th, with guided tours starting every 15 minutes from 5pm to 9pm. Each tour lasts approximately 1 hour; tickets are $20 dollars/person. Enter $ amount, then in the "write a note box", put the date, which tour(s) you prefer (starting at 5pm, in 15-minute increments, up to 9pm), and number of tickets. Groups are limited to 10-12 people per tour. All proceeds benefit the Historical Society of Cu***ng/Forsyth County and Age Well Forsyth.
Congrats to State Rep Carter Barrett, who was awarded the “Legislator of the Year” by the Georgia Council on Aging. He collaborated with the Georgia Council on Aging to help pass the Senior Protections from Exploitation Against Retirees Act (SB 84). This act aims to safeguard elderly citizens in Georgia from financial exploitation by providing protective measures. Hear all that Carter has done for the county in this recent podcast with James McCoy of the Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce.
How about some entertaining theatre without driving far? "Sweeney Todd" the musical is coming to the School Street Playhouse right here in Cu***ng in late September for a 4-weekend run. 2025 CO-AGE Agenda Discussion, to be held at Sexton Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 11am - noon. Learn more about the 2025 CO-AGE (Coalition of Advocates for Georgia's Elderly) advocacy agenda for the upcoming legislative session, including elder abuse prevention, assisted living options, independent living support and funding support for non-Medicaid Home & Community Services. Deadline for Age Well's Small Grant program's third quarter award is coming up! If you are, or know of, a senior or senior group who might need help with small home repairs, accessibility improvements, yard work or other assistance, our program awards a grant of up to $1,500 quarterly from among applicants. Examples of past grants are roof and siding repair, HVAC work, plumbing repair, window replacement, tree cutting and other yard work, even durable medical equipment.
