Our Community BBQ at little Mulberry Park last night was a beautiful glimpse of our Oak Hill family! It was a sweet night of reconnecting with friends and meeting new ones. Lots of smiles, laughs, great conversations and delicious food.

We kicked off our Annual Fund and trust that God will continue to grow and provide for our amazing school.

Thanks to everyone who came and joined in on the fun and to those that helped make this event happen!

Our last introduction is Katie Moore. Her family moved from Orlando, Florida last year and are loving life here in Georgia! We are excited to have her teaching our Art Appreciation class this year.

What brings you joy?
Being with my students and teaching truly does bring me joy! I also love reading, hiking, traveling, fresh flowers, and most anything old (art, history, people--you name it!)

What scripture is encouraging you right now?
Right now I'm reading through Acts, and it's so encouraging to see the good news of the Gospel spread through the boldness of the believers by the power of the Holy Spirit.

What are you most excited about teaching at Oak Hill?
I love getting to know my students, and Oak Hill has such delightful young people!

Phoebe James is no stranger to Oak Hill! Her children have attended Oak Hill for several years and she started teaching Nature Studies earlier this year. We are happy to have her back as she shares her love of nature with our students. Mrs. James and her husband have 4 children. She is originally from West Africa, Liberia and has resided in the states for over 30 years. Mrs. James has a degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.

What brings you joy?
I find joy in so many things, but perhaps the most important thing is my growing relationship with Jesus, to see His beauty and love for not just me, but for mankind. Other hobbies I enjoy are spending time with family, painting watercolor, reading lots of books, and I love creating new recipes and cooking at home.

What scripture is encouraging you right now?
Acts 2:42 "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."

What are you most excited about teaching at Oak Hill (or what do you love about teaching)?
Teaching at Oak Hill is a wonderful experience simply because of the staff and faculty. Coming to work feels more like a calling versus a job. Teaching Nature Studies has brought me much joy! I love watching and learning along with our students. We learn together, we have deep and thought provoking discussions. Most of all I love teaching them about the gift of the world that God has given to us.

You may recognize Mrs. Barber as she helped with music last year, but we never got to formally introduce her! Leesa and her husband are both originally from Georgia and have 3 daughters. They spent 14 years in Alabama and recently moved back to Georgia. Mrs. Barber helped us with our last Lessons & Carols and decided to stay with us to teach Music. We are thankful to have her.

What brings me joy?
Fall weather and fall scenery, A good mystery novel, musical theatre, a fireplace in the winter, having my whole family together

What scripture is encouraging to me right now?
2 Chronicles 20:12: We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.

What do I love about teaching?
THE KIDS!! They are such a joy and bring me delight every week!

We want to welcome back Emily Ammons Hayter! Emily is no stranger to Oak Hill as she used to be a student here! She is the first student to come back to teach and we are excited to have her!

What brings you joy?
I enjoy doing just about anything with my little family, coffee with friends, long walks and reading a good book!

What scripture is encouraging you right now?
I have been reading through Psalm 139 and have been very encouraged by it!

What are you most excited about teaching at Oak Hill (or what do you love about teaching)?
I am most excited about getting to know each of my students more and more throughout the year!!

09/03/2024

Next, we are happy to introduce Vallon Allen! Mrs. Allen and her husband are both from Georgia and have one son. She has enjoyed mentoring and tutoring children through the last 15 years. Teaching children to read is something she has really enjoyed.

What brings you joy?
Being part of a great church community is one of the things that brings us great joy. I love serving alongside such a great group of people who love the Lord and digging deeper into God's word with them. Reading, coffee talks,a good hike ending in a waterfall and music are also great joys the Lord gives me.

What scripture is encouraging you right now?
Psalm 121

What are you most excited about teaching at Oak Hill?
I am most excited about being at Oak HIll because I know it is a community of believers, who have a heart for putting Christ at the center of all things. What a blessing it is to offer this to our son and see the blessing of that, firsthand. I can't think of a better place to continue in my own journey of teaching. God is kind to open this door for our family.

08/30/2024

Next we'd like to introduce Mrs. Thompson! She and her husband Randy have been married for 27 years and have 2 daughters. She homeschooled her girls through Classical Conversations which also introduced her to the classical model of education.

What brings you joy?
I find great joy in the quiet mornings just before I begin my Bible reading. The calm and peace plants the seeds of joy for the day. I also celebrate when my daughters or husband share a success or victory in their life.

What scripture is encouraging you right now?
I am currently studying the book of Matthew on extra slow and discovering many insights I didn't notice in the past.

What are you most excited about teaching at Oak Hill?
I can't really pick one subject! I love how each subject touches on others and finding the order that points to God.

Anyone remember the “Easy Bake Oven”?! Third grade made their version for their science lesson. Their solar ovens used heat from the sun to bake their s’mores. Such a fun (and yummy) lesson! ☀️🍫

First up, welcome Mr. Klob (pronounced like klobe)! Andrew and his wife Sally Ann are both from Georgia and have a 1 year old son.. They enjoy traveling as a family.

Mr. Klob answered a few questions for us:
What brings you joy?
I enjoy soccer (playing or watching it), hiking, fishing, going to the gym, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

What scripture is encouraging you right now?
I've really been enjoying and thinking upon Colossians 3:22-24.

What are you most excited about teaching at Oak Hill?
I'm excited about all of the subjects but especially Bible and PE!

A few awards were given out at Spring Vesper and we want to congratulate our winners.
Nathanael Award Winner: Kensley, 7th grade
Archer Award Winner, Logic School: Kayla, 7th grade
Archer Award Winner, Grammar School: Brody, 5th grade

The Nathanael Award recognizes a student’s exceptional character, curiosity and conviction. Named for the Apostle Nathanael. The Archer Award recognizes a student’s commitment and persistence
through adversity. It is named for the English archers at Agincourt, who helped the English army under Henry V overcome a far larger French army at Agincourt.

Congratulations to these exceptional students!

Spring Vesper is a time for all of our students to share what they’ve learned over the school year. We heard hymns, poems, scripture, jingles, latin, and speeches. We are beyond proud of each of them (and their teachers) for their hard work at school. It was a beautiful glimpse of why exists and seeing our mission on display. Well done everyone! 👏🏻

Lots of fun field trips have taken place at the end of the school year. Recently, our third graders got to go to Dahlonega to the Gold Museum and the Planetarium. Learning outside the classroom is an important part of classical education. Finding truth, beauty and goodness all around us.
