Dr. PJ Wyman shares about the profound impact of our team in Honduras that returned home today… ⤵️
Returning to Orphanage Emmanuel in Honduras was an extraordinary experience. Witnessing the students' and leaders dedication as they hauled corn up the mountain, built barbed wire fences, transported wood, cleaned various houses, pulled weeds, and watered to prevent wildfires, was inspiring. Their hard work extended to milking cows, cleaning pig pens, and managing trash trucks, all while maintaining a positive and enthusiastic attitude. It was remarkable to see them demonstrate Christ's love in every task, embodying His teachings through their service without complaint.
Evenings were particularly special as students engaged in deep discussions about Philippians, revealing their growth into leaders. Watching them come together as a unified team, regardless of their grade levels, was heartwarming.
One of the most memorable moments was witnessing so many students at the orphanage get baptized. The joy of playing with the children, the quality of education they are receiving, and the impressive work ethic demonstrated by our students were all significant. However, these experiences paled in comparison to the eternal impact that Mami and Papi are making for the Kingdom. Seeing the children come to know Jesus underscored the profound and lasting influence of Orphanage Emmanuel. This return trip was not just about physical labor or fellowship; it was about contributing to a greater mission and witnessing the transformative power of faith.
On our last day, we added a new term to our vocabulary: "Hebroned." It all began when we arrived at the airport and discovered that our 2:00 pm flight was delayed until 10:40 pm. This delay caused us to miss our connecting flight, resulting in a grueling journey home that required five planes, with the final one departing on Friday at 5:00 pm. Despite the exhaustion that naturally comes with 38 hours of travel, beginning with our wake-up time in Honduras, everyone Hebroned. They maintained their positive momentum and unwavering spirit right until the last flight touched down at 7:30 pm. This resilience and optimism in the face of adversity truly encapsulated the spirit of our trip and the lessons we learned along the way.
