We are also offering a $500 sign on bonus to qualified applicants.

Work expected to last nine plus months.

What’s important to us at S&C... relationships.

We take care of our people and that’s never been more important during these dog days of summer here in the heart of Texas.

Can you imagine being a tradesman or woman in this heat? Boots, jeans, hard hat, and other required PPE.

We can’t thank our team enough for getting through each day safely.

That TEAM hincludes our client partners, because without their cooperation and concern for our employees, we’d be in for a tough time.

When you go from the ranks of those who are defended to the ranks of those who defend, this day holds a different meaning.

Enjoy the bbq and the beer and the festivities, but remember the ones who have gone before us fighting for our freedoms and our way of life.

If you are graduating in May and starting your career, a few pieces of advice:

1. If you are allowed to be in the office go. 5 days a week.

2. Work on improving your writing and excel skills. It makes a difference. No matter the job.

3. Dress better than the average person. People notice.

4. Arrive earlier than the highest person who goes to the office. And then work when you arrive.

5. Don’t rush out. The relationships built after “hours” are how you truly get to know people.

6. Have a firm handshake. (In addition to a good fist bump ;)).

7. Read the WSJ. You’re in business now. Know what’s going on.

8. Don’t be on Instagram and Snap all day — someone’s paying you for your time. 🙂

9. Take notes in meetings. Every meeting. It shows you value what others are saying.

10. Study on your own what your new job is. The more you study the faster you’ll learn, the sooner you’ll make more $$.

11. Participate. Company events. Softball teams. Happy hours. Go. It’s akward. You’re new. That’s how it is. Just be nice.

12. Work ethic. It’s all that you will be judged by in your first few months. How hard you work and your activity level. Just go hard.

13. Laugh. Find the humor in things. As you develop you will see things from a different perspective. How you see things day one may be completely different in six or twelve months.

14. Make work friends. No matter how many friends you already have don’t be the “I don’t need more friends person”. Having a great work friend(s) adds value to your life and they give you perspective.

15. Avoid the negative people. When someone is complaining about things, exit stage left. “Too early”. “Too upbeat”. “Too boring”. “Not fair”. “I’m tired and hungover”. When you hear those comments, don’t engage and get back to work.

Things are changing in the world. Ukraine. Interest rates. Inflation. Social unrest. The one thing you have complete control over is your work ethic and your behavior.

It’s a GREAT time to be entering the workforce. Good luck!!!

Our testing center is a game changer when it comes to screening our field employees. We require our electricians to show proficiency in running conduit on our bend board and we require them to be able to wire a three way switch.

All of our team members go through a safety orientation and general construction job-site awareness training!

Dena Briley—working on six years of tenure leading our electrical and sheet metal divisions. Dena manages hundreds of tradesmen and women leading our teams in industrial, commercial, and renewable energy work!

Rosy Flores—Rosy was thrown into the fire in the last year and came to S&C after a career with an electrical supply company in the DFW area. She is instrumental in our plumbing, welding, and fitting recruiting focusing mainly in Texas, but growing her footprint to include the entire nation!

Jessica Galvan—Jessica is in her eighth year with our organization and has recruited and placed some of the top welding, millwright, and pipe fitter talent in the country for some of the world’s largest contractors.

Together, Rosy and Jessica run our plumbing, welding, fitting, millwright divions and the combination of these two with Dena, have allowed us to build the best recruiting department in the region if not the country.
