When the Greenwood Gallery was created in May of 2021, the intention was to create a safe space for artists of color and the community.  Many of you have asked and some may have heard by now, the Greenwood Gallery has been told it’s lease has been terminated and to vacate the space at Greenwood & Archer.

There has been a misunderstanding about the wing competition block party that took place on June 12th on Black Wall Street and the gallery is being accused of breaching it’s lease. The Greenwood Gallery has never had any previous issues  with the landlord so this sudden notice comes as a shock to everyone here at the Greenwood Gallery. There are many people that will be affected if the gallery has to close and relocate. We remain hopeful that this current issue will be resolved in a way that it allows me to continue to operate the Greenwood Gallery in the foreseeable future.

I would like to invite everyone out starting June 19th to our newest exhibition titled, “Eviction Notice,” which features art by the talented Tulsa artist Eddye K. Allen that speaks to not only what the gallery is currently facing but the importance of Ownership, Community, & Culture.

I would like to thank everyone that has shown so much support to the gallery throughout this whole incident. Thank you for those that created and signed petitions and those of you that have reached out and have asked how you could help.

We are pleased to announce our fabulous host for tonight's Artist Talk Erica Ayala with .

Erica L. Ayala is a freelance multimedia journalist and a hockey analyst for the Premiere Hockey Federation. She  called her first NHL game on Devils Radio on March 8th, 2022, as the Colorado Avalanche took on the New Jersey Devils in Newark, NJ. Erica also covers women’s basketball & soccer, and her writing has appeared in Forbes, The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, and more. 

Erica is a New York native who recently relocated to Tulsa, OK, and is a member of the 2022 Winter cohort of the Builders + Backers Idea Accelerator program–a rapid-pace, 90-day, virtual program fueled by non-dilutive funds. Erica is using her funding to expand her brand to elevate Black women and melanated creators in sports media.

In addition to getting to know the artist we will also have a panel discussion with his former University of Tulsa Coach Dan Bitson and teammate JC Santana.

Saturday 2PM-4PM: Art & Assets with Author and Financial Coach Ray'Chel Wilson of .investments. Ray'Chel will be hosting a book signing for her premier financial literacy workbook, personal finance crash course.

Sunday 2PM-6PM: Circulate Sundays at The Greenwood Gallery is our monthly vendor pop-up where we highlight some amazing small businesses within the community. Please come out and support these amazing entrepreneurs!

Please join us April 1st for an artist talk/ panel discussion you don't want to miss. This March Madness Artist talk with artist Angel Okolie will take place at The Greenwood Gallery Friday, April 1st from 7PM-9PM

We will get to know more about Angel Okolie and his transition from sports star to becoming one of the hottest artist in Tulsa.

In addition to getting to Angel we will also have a panel discussion featuring one of his former coaches from The University of Tulsa Coach Dan Bitson and friend/ former teammate JC Santana about black people and our roles in the entertainment industry.

This event is FREE and open to all ages.
