El Niño Desert Orchid Chitalpa
This plant is practically a unicorn, combining the best qualities of two unique plants - desert willow and catalpa. This resulted in absolutely lovely flowers that somehow look both like orchids and snapdragons, but are way easier to care for than either of those plants. Youâll get to enjoy these sweetly scented blooms starting in late spring or early summer, depending on where you live, and then sporadically throughout the summer. Reaching only 10â tall. Full sun.
THEY'RE HERE! Our Iris rhizomes have landed and fall is the perfect time to get them planted. We have 16 varieties to choose from, all only $5.99 each.

Big Red Sage (Salvia penstemonoides)
Once thought to be extinct, Big Red Sage was rediscovered in the 1980s and has become an established garden plant in Texas. Endemic to Texas, in the Edwards Plateau, it can reach up to 4' tall and take seasonal flooding. Sun to part shade.

Did you know? Side Oats Grama
(Bouteloua curtipendula) is not only the State Grass of Texas but itâs also a butterfly larval host! This means that if youâre building a butterfly garden you should add small native grasses too. Not only do butterflies need nectar plants, they need plants that will support their caterpillars. Learn more this Saturday at 1:30 in our Native Plant class.

Have you noticed this lush, grass-like plant in the beds by the boutique? These are not grasses, but are Carex and they give that softening look. Unlike grasses, they can handle lots of shade, too. We love Carex oshimensis âFeather Fallsâ for its richly variegated leaves of cream and green on a plant that can actually take more sun than most of them - just offer a little more water and theyâre fine.

Murphyâs deet-free line of repellents really work. Sprays, incense, wipes and candles all contain multiple essential oils that naturally repel for hours. These products are a staff favorite.
Did you know?
In North Texas, we have two planting windows for tomatoes: early spring for a summer harvest and summer for late fall harvest! Plant mid-June to mid-July and the plants should begin producing when night temps begin to cool, usually late September. Allow the fruit to grow until just prior to the first frost, then harvest. Green tomatoes will slowly ripen through the winter.
New shipments weekly until mid-July.
Happy Pollinator Week!
We're celebrating by bringing in another large order of Native Texas Plants for sun and shade, even some in 4in containers.
