Redenta's Garden Shops

Our stapelia gigantea just opened its first bloom of the season. We just happen to have 5-6 baby plants for sale at the store right now if anyone is interested in owning one of the unusual flowering succulents. Stop by our store and check it out in person.

This Indian Snake cucumber is getting a lot of attention at the store. This vigorous vining cucumber produces long, often twisted fruits that range from 18-30” and longer. The fruit is surprisingly mild considering the large size and based on the response to the samples we let our gardeners taste, these might be a new favorite. The vines keep producing well into the summer heat here in Texas. Stop by and check them out!

Update — Fig has been found!!! We are not sure where she spent the night and most of the day, but she made her way back home to the shop this afternoon and we have never been more happy to see her! Thank y’all so much for your thoughts and efforts to help us find her! ❤️❤️❤️

Redenta’s is extremely excited to share our newest native plant selections with you. We have partnered with the Texas Conservation Alliance and the Dallas Zoo to bring you all native Texas plants grown here at the Native Plant Propagation Center in Dallas. Every two weeks we will offer new genus and species of native plants. Come check it out!

We are heartbroken to share with you all the passing of one of our most beloved Redenta’s family members. Tony Tolentino worked for Redenta’s for over 15 years and lived in the neighborhood for the majority of that time. Many of you saw him walking his dogs or doing some woodwork in the yard or tending to his and our garden over the years. He was a master of the pun and a jack of all trades and one of the most caring people we have ever known. His lifetime of experiences in the military travelling the world, his thirst for knowledge of plants and people and his joy in learning ballroom dancing are just a few of the many things we will miss about him. We will miss you so much, Tony, but we are forever grateful for what you gave to us.

Calendula is a plant that you should have in your garden right now 😊 We have multiple varieties so you should come try one out!

Also called Pot Marigold, this can be planted now and will keep blooming through the winter (although if there is a hard freeze you should cover with frost cloth or bring inside).

The flowers are often used in tea or added to a salad and it is a good companion plant for tomatoes because it is said to deter pests.

Remember some bulbs need to be refrigerated for weeks before you plant them, so make sure to ask us when you come in if you’re not sure which bulbs to get!

Fun fact, our owner (Dawna) has a maiden name of Hogg — just in case you’re wondering why we now have a pig in the front of the store 😊

For this time of year, we potted her up with some colorful pansies and rosemary to last through the winter.
