Tomorrow at Holy Cross Catholic Church!
On this the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorists attacks, we share with you these prayers that the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions prepared for the 20th anniversary.
We invite you to stop by and take a closer look (or first look) of this beautiful artwork commissioned by Paul DeCleva of the artist Tibor Horvath of Budapest, Hungary to honor the victims and heroes of 9/11. (If you have information on when this was commissioned, we would appreciate you sharing.)
"On September 11, 2001, the United States was senselessly attacked by terrorists. Thousands perished in the World Trade Center, in the Pentagon, and in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The victims were Americans. The victims were citizens of over fifty other countries.
We pause today to remember those who have died. We ask God to be merciful to them and to give them eternal rest. And we gather as a nation, still mourning so great a loss of life, still living under the possibility of more evil deeds, still at war with terrorist actions. We gather as a nation “under God,” and with full trust in his love, compassion, and justice.
Let us call to mind all those who died on September 11, 2001.
(pause)
God of loving kindness, those who have died still live in your presence. Welcome into your loving embrace all those who died on September 11, 2001. Grant them eternal rest. Comfort those who mourn them. Open our hearts to hear your word, and in it, find light in time of darkness, and strength in our belief that your Son won for us eternal life. Through that same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(pause)
Most merciful God, whose wisdom is beyond our understanding, be attentive to the voice of our pleading. By the death and resurrection of your Son we are redeemed, so we are full of hope that those who have died now rest in your eternal light. Give comfort to those left behind. Protect us from all evil, and restore your peace to this world. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen."

If you're headed to the chapel today (or tomorrow) please be advised City of Dallas - City Hall Water Utilities is doing some work in front of the The Joule, Dallas and has really narrowed the lanes of Main Street between Akard and Ervay. Please try to avoid this area if possible. (Don't forget to park at the DalPark garage at 1600 Commerce Street and walk through Main Street Alley.)
Not sure if they will continue to work in this area tomorrow. Please plan ahead.
Thank you!
Join us this Labor Day weekend to wish Anna a fond farewell!
You are invited to St. Jude Chapel Saturday August 31st and Sunday September 1st to wish us a fond farewell to Anna Lujan our gift shop manager. She and her husband Chris have sold the house, and they are moving outta’ Texas to New Mexico.
Anna started her time here as a volunteer in the gift shop and as a lector and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. She was asked in late 2021 to go on staff working part-time as the gift shop coordinator. But within a matter of months, she was promoted to gift shop manager and wowed us with her people skills and her ability to source good merchandise.
She has started working with her replacement, Elizabeth Castro and Anna will stay on as needed through the end of September. (Welcome Elizabeth!)
This Labor Day weekend, please stop by the Chapel to say goodbye to a member of our family, Anna.
We wish her and Chris all the happiness and joy as they start their next chapter.
We ask the Lord to bless you and keep you always.
