This patient came in expecting me to say this tooth needs a root canal and a crown. At least that’s what she was told in the past by a few dentist. We tested this tooth numerous times at different visit and it always tested to be alive. My recommendation was an onlay for this. No root canal. No crown. If we’re able to intervene with treatment early enough in the disease process, it’s almost certain that we won’t need a root canal. It all depends on the symptoms that are being experienced. If we’re able to treat early enough, the body is amazing at rebounding and healing without needing a root canal. The best part is that we did this treatment nearly three years ago and it’s still going strong. I’d expect this to last a very long time. This is what’s amazing with biomimetics. We can avoid so many costly and invasive traditional procedures. To me this is a success 🙌 What would you consider a success?
It’s the details that make a case truly special. There’s so many details involved with biomimetic dentistry. Those same details are applied to our cosmetic cases. These details not only ensure a fantastic result that enhances the smile but also provides a treatment that will last years. The proper planning and ex*****on that we do make the investment in yourself truly worth it.
It’s always fun with these shipments come in! Kinda feel like Oprah and saying “You get Invisalign! You get Invisalign! You get Invisalign!” Days like these makes me love my job. Invisalign is one of the best long term investments you can do for yourself.
With the news that Smile Direct Club is closing, Invisalign is offering to help work with those patients that are impacted by the closure. No one wants to be left alone during treatment. Reach out, I ‘d love to be able to help complete the case and get you the smile you want!
We spoke on this case a few days back. Amalgams are terrible for teeth. They can do a lot of underlying damage to the teeth. In this case I highlighted a crack that was getting close to taking out a cusp. If left untreated, this could have lead to a root canal and /or ultimately an extraction due to the location and direction it was going. We restored this tooth with an onlay. This helps preserve as much enamel as possible but also altering the chewing forces on the tooth to a more favorable orientation to compensate for that crack. This patient should be able to have this tooth, symptom free, for many years to come!
Our bodies are special. Our bodies are unique. Our bodies are also very fine tuned to where a slight discrepancy can cause serious complications. The materials we use in dentistry can often cause these imbalances. These imbalances can often lead to localized infection, systemic inflammation, autoimmune issues, or ‘simple’ things like rashes, sores, or things like fatigue. Everyone is different and everyone responded to certain conditions differently. In this case the patient had all of these symptoms after some recent dental work. While there’s definitely a correlation, we (the patient, myself and other doctors) worked hard to determine the causation. We did numerous tests and studies. Ultimately it was decided to redo the recent work, a decision that no one took lightly given her situation. These show the crowns that she presented with. We’re in the process of restoring this case with biomimetic protocols that include proper sealing of the dentin among other benefits. She’s been in provisional temporary crowns for more than two weeks and she’s seen a dramatic improvement in her overall health as well as a reduction in her symptoms. Can’t wait to finish this case for her.
Referrals are really how we grow our business. Our goal is that we can always give the best personal experience to our patients. We strive to make the experience as easy and enjoyable as possible to where they share us with their family and friends. We love meeting their people. It’s always so fun connecting with others in their circles. It’s really the human element that drives us for what we do. It’s about treating people as people and helping them achieve their personal oral health goals.
I hate amalgams for lots of reasons. The one that’s being illustrated here is, is that amalgams are too hard for the tooth. They essentially create a wedge inside the tooth and cause the tooth to be too stressed. The stress can lead to cracks, splits, open areas, and leaks that can cause decay. You can see decay in the highlighted area that is causing that cusp to be weakened. With time, that cusp will either break off and/ or the decay will reach the pulp needing a root canal. Most offices would do a crown in this situation to restore. Here, we do an onlay preserving as much of the tooth as possible. We only remove the decay, damaged, cracks, and other portions of the tooth that aren’t usable. Everything that is healthy is left alone. This conservative approach prevents the need for root canals and crowns.
Veneers are a great way to rejuvenate a smile. You can fix so many things! Shapes, size, color, textures, stains, chips, fractures, wear, as well as infuse general youthfulness. They really are one of the most fun procedures we do!
“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence” - Vince Lombardi. We always strive to improve everyday, every procedure we want to be better than the last. Here we are learning and testing the latest technology so we can deliver better, more comprehensive, dental care for our patients.
A common question we get with Invisalign is if it’s possible to bleach your teeth at the same time. The answer is yes! The Invisalign trays are actually an ideal way to do it. There’s no harm that happens to the teeth or trays when you do. The bleach is also great because it works as an antiseptic to clean the teeth as well. The bleach essentially breaks down to hydrogen peroxide and a few other organic compounds. So we’re putting a bunch of oxygen into the area to help clean and whiten your smile at the same time. It’s a great way to get that added bump to truly elevate your smile!
We’re always so grateful for our patient’s trust. Thank you for the positive review!
This is part of the try-in step we do when seating the veneers. We want to see how the veneers look overall related to the other neighboring teeth, how well they seat on the prepped teeth, and also to see how the color and shapes look. Veneers are a great way to correct chipped, worn, thin, or other structural issues as well as improving the cosmetics of the teeth. Porcelain is a great material that closely mimics and replicates the natural properties of enamel. Veneers are a great way to restore these lost properties.
In this smile transformation case we had a few goals: 1) a bit more length on the laterals, 2) softer line angles, 3) raising the color. Needless to say she was super excited about the new smile! This was a super fun case to do. All of it was super minimal and we hardly, hardly prepped any of the enamel at all. I mean like almost none. Best part about all of it, we did this without being numb. Truly makes for a more enjoyable experience.
Positive reviews are some of my favorite things about practicing dentistry. It may be cliche, but it’s so fun hearing how someone’s life has been changed and improved. We always strive to keep dentistry simple and not over complicated. Thanks for the review!
Biomimetic dentistry aims to replicate and mimic the natural tooth. This is at the heart of what we do here. It’s a conservative treatment option that prolongs the life of a tooth and avoids larger more detrimental treatment options like root canals and implants. Onlays, like this one, preserve vital portions of the tooth and can restore the tooth to how it was before any damage was done.
We love seeing great reviews come back like this! This is what makes our day.
These teeth are prepped for veneers. Veneers should be conservative and preserve the tooth. There’s no reason to cut these down down to nubs or anything smaller than this. Can’t wait to see the final results for this case!
Teeth whitening fact: Your teeth are like sponges…they absorb.
Your teeth have pores just like your skin or a sponge. Anything you put in your mouth that has color will absorb into those pores. Wine, coffee, dark berries, and smoking are extremely active in staining teeth. Over time, the natural color of your teeth becomes darker due to these stains. These stains will never go away unless you actively remove them. Properly formulated teeth whitening gel works by absorbing into your teeth and gently pushing stains out through the pores. It’s perfect time to whiten teeth with school starting back up !
