An ensemble of standout players from a city known for the quality of its musicians, East Nash Grass came by its name and reputation honestly, honing their performance chops night after night on a tiny stage on Music City’s east side.

Even now having played many of the biggest stages in bluegrass, East Nash Grass can still be found every Monday night performing in that same east side bar. Dedication to a group’s roots and a commitment to hard work are earmarks of great Nashville bands of all kinds, and East Nash Grass exemplifies what it means to be a bluegrass band from Nashville.

When Scruggs first appeared with Monroe, the “Father of Bluegrass,” on the Grand Ole Opry in December 1945, his signature three-finger banjo-picking technique, now known as “Scruggs Style,” forever changed the course of the genre.

“Anyone who makes art, that growth and willingness to be curious and explore change is something that’s not just beneficial, but crucial,” says Chris Scruggs, grandson of Earl and bassist for the Fabulous Superlatives.

Adding to our already loaded festival, we are happy to announce that The Tim Shelton Syndicate will be joining us as well.

The Tim Shelton Syndicate is made up of NewFound Road co-founders Tim Shelton and Jr. Williams as well as NFR alum, Joe Booher, on mandolin, Pittsburgh native, Avery Welter, on guitar and Sam Lauderbaugh on bass. In short order, The Tim Shelton Syndicate has proven to be an exciting and powerful presence on stage. The band effortlessly transitions from hard driving, intense Bluegrass tunes to heart wrenching Country ballads, even adding elements of Classic Rock, all while remaining anchored to Bluegrass music.
Ronnie Bowman will be joining forces with Tim to add even more excitement to the show!

We are beyond excited to welcome back Dan Tyminski and his band this year for Bloomin' 2024!

Dan has also contributed guitar and/or harmony to projects by Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Kenny Chesney, LeAnn Rimes, Aaron Lewis and Rob Thomas, to name a few. In addition to his highly successful solo career, Dan Tyminski has played guitar and mandolin for Alison Krauss and Union Station since 1994. His unmatched instrumental skills and burnished, soulful tenor voice have been key components of the band.

Dan has been honored with 14 Grammy Awards, was named Male Vocalist of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association 4x and was recognized as 2004’s Male Vocalist of the Year by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America.

How great will Bloomin' Bluegrass 2024 be? Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper will be gracing our stage!

Widely considered the bluegrass fiddler of his generation, Cleveland has been recognized 12 times as the IBMA’s “Fiddler of the Year” and in 2018 was inducted into the National Fiddler’s Hall of Fame. His recording Fiddler’s Dream was nominated in 2018 for a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album, and in 2019, he won a Grammy for his album Tall Fiddler. In 2019, Cleveland’s amazing life of adversity and achievement was featured in the documentary film Flamekeeper: The Michael Cleveland Story. And in 2022, he was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Fellowship.

Happy 'Heavenly' Birthday to Jimmy Martin!
(August 10, 1927 – May 14, 2005)

Known as the "King of Bluegrass", Martin sang and recorded memorable duets with Bill Monroe that led to the description of bluegrass music as the “high lonesome sound.”

In 1995, Martin was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Honor. A documentary on his life, King of Bluegrass: The Life and Times of Jimmy Martin, was released in 2003. Martin is also featured in the documentary film High Lonesome: The Story of Bluegrass Music.

Blue Highway will be joining us for Bloomin' Bluegrass 2024! We are thrilled to have them back on our stage!

In 2024, the highly esteemed bluegrass band Blue Highway celebrates 30 years of touring, with four of the original members still intact. Its single “Lonesome State of Mind” was named the MOST-PLAYED SONG IN BLUEGRASS MUSIC of 2023 by Bluegrass Today.

The band has earned a collective 32 IBMA Awards, 6 SPBGMA Awards, one Dove Award, plus three Grammy nominations. Most recently, the band was nominated for IBMA's 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020 Vocal Group of the Year and Song of the Year Awards.

A big congratulations to Alan Munde for being in the 2024 Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame class!

Alan Munde is one of the most highly respected and best-loved banjo players in the world. A master of both melodic and traditional Scruggs styles, Alan has played and taught music professionally for over 40 years. He is a member of the American Banjo Hall of Fame and a winner of the 2021 Steve Martin Banjo Prize.

Congratulations Alan! Well deserved!
