If you are new to our parish, you might not have known Marvin Poer, the person in whose memory we dedicated the atrium on Sunday. We thought it would be a nice way to honor him if we reran this portion of his obituary from 2019.

https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/dallas-tx/marvin-poer-8937993

Here is the prayer Fr Mills prayed on Sunday:
Almighty God, we thank you that you have put it into the hearts of your people to make offerings for your service, and have been pleased to accept their gifts. Be with us now and bless us as we set apart this atrium to your praise and glory, in memory Marvin Poer and in thanksgiving for the contributions the Poer family have made to our church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God, we remember before you today your faithful servant Marvin; and we pray that, having opened to him the gates of larger life, you will receive him more and more into your joyful service, that, with all who have faithfully served you in the past, he may share in the eternal victory of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We bless your Name, O Lord, because it has pleased you to enable your servants Marvin and Aileen to offer this gift for your worship. Remember them for good, and grant that all who benefit from this gift may show their thankfulness to you by using it in accordance with your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We will be concluding our sermon series on the Ten Commandments this Sunday by looking at the first commandment, to "have no other gods before" the God of the Bible.
