Large clay/ceramic wine jar salvaged from the 1724 Guadalupe and Tolosa shipwrecks off the coast of the Dominican Republic. These vessels went down in a hurricane on their way from Spain to the New World (Vera Cruz, Mexico). Your donation this North Texas Giving Day will provide supplies to rehouse this fragile 300-year-old artifact.
This pipe bag is made from deer skin, beads, metal and horsehair. The artisan who constructed this item was extremely skilled in their craft. However, due to the age of this item conservation work is needed. A donation toward the preservation of this artifact honors the artisan who skillfully and thoughtfully created this beautiful bag.
