We were clipping along and just a few seconds ago power is out AGAIN. ONCOR NOTIFIED. We have no idea why this happened again at this point.
If we had paper charts, we would be fine. Let’s thank our government for this.
Who was it that said electronic records and technology would be better, more efficient and safer?!!!!
Update: This 3rd outage is not related to our building alone, it is a remaining issue recurring since the original storm which took out most of our area on Tuesday morning. The event today with loss of power again around 4pm appears to affect the same 373 homes and offices in our area. We are hoping that ONCOR can perform an effective more permanent repair over the weekend so we may bring our perishable vaccines and testing supplies back to the office safely.
As always, A Bright Future Pediatrics has a board certified Pediatrician on call 24/7.
Please call us at 972-208-8668 before heading to the ER or Urgent Care for your child to be evaluated when they are sick.
However, always call 911 first should there be a true medical emergency.
Electricity update:
With the storm earlier in the day our electricity and internet were disrupted yet again. We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing.
ONCOR is actively working on the new problem however unable to give an estimated time for restoration of power to the area at this time.
We’ll keep you updated as we receive information, and hope to be back in the office again tomorrow.
No matter the situation, Dr Berry is covering the office and is available. Please call us first BEFORE heading to an ER or Urgent Care…we may be able to help.
Stay safe and dry.

Internet just went out which means no phones again. Dr Berry will forward phones to after hours message. For now, we can see sick and work on laptops using hot spots at least a couple hours.
972-208-8668
Flashlights available when you enter at your own risk. Seriously, we ARE safe to handle sick for now.
WELL…we tried!!! New storm just took out our electricity AGAIN! I am sure many of you are in the same boat. Haha.
Phones are working; emergency lights in exam rooms are working. Laptops working until the batteries run out. We’ll stay as long as we can for sick visits, however may have to swim home early today. We will keep you updated.
Spooky here.
All we can do is laugh about it.
Maybe we should go work in the exam rooms. Good thing emergency lights are there.
GOOD NEWS!!!! We were just notified the office finally has electricity. Our landlord checked in and reports the a/c and lights are on.
We will be opening the office at 1000 tomorrow to allow time to iron out any technology issues for a smoothe return to care. Our vaccines and some well visit testing supplies will need to remain off site until this weekend as we need to ensure our vaccine fridge and freezer are back to correct temps and holding stable before moving them back from our emergency storage location. We should be fine w any sick visit (on site) testing needed tomorrow and Friday.
It appears we’ll have more wet weather tomorrow. Let’s hope nothing like Tuesday morning.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we settle back into the office after this power outage from weather. We’ll be working diligently to move all of our perishable supplies back in place ASAP while following safety protocols, and contacting everyone needing to be rescheduled for another day in order to provide the same quality of care and a complete exam/visit.
Again, we will open at 1000 tomorrow morning.

A Bright Future Pediatrics
Along with many others in the area, we continue to be without power at the office today. This means we have no phones, no internet, no access to records, no lights, no ability to run most of our labs and are unable to have our vaccines stored safely on site. ONCOR continues to have no estimate for power restoration at our building. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and hope tomorrow will bring different news.
We are hoping to have power tomorrow. At this time, Oncor’s outage reporting system continues to show no estimated time for power restoration within our facility area.
It appears that we are going to have more bad weather overnight. We hope everyone stays safe and dry.
As always, A Bright Future Pediatrics has an on-call Pediatrician available at 972-208-8668.
Due to the continued power outage from this morning’s storm, A Bright Future Pediatrics will remain closed today. We do not yet have an estimate on when power will be restored. We are hoping to be up and running again tomorrow morning.
Be safe!
Due to the storms from early this morning, we have no power at the office at A Bright Future Pediatrics. Unfortunately, we will have to be closed at least until noon. An estimated time of repair is not available to us currently. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you. Our afterhours phone service remains intact at this time for emergencies. Thank you for your understanding.
We pray that everyone remained safe through the storm.
Over the past few years we are seeing more and more childhood trauma associated with the internet.
I know many of you feel you can trust your child, but you never know what they are being exposed to. I have had several families (absolutely no judgment) that were surprised at what their child had done to hurt themselves because they got the idea from the internet…never would have imagined as they were never themselves exposed to the harmful ideas/content/behaviors of others. Again, no judgement, just want everyone to know it is our community and schools. No family is immune to the harmful effects of technology.
Please monitor your child’s technology use heavily.
Even our mature and compliant children are getting caught up in this type of stuff.
We recommend
1) no screens in children’s/adolescent’s rooms, especially w the door closed,
2) no more than 2 hours of screen time per day (outside of school work)
3) flip phones only
4) no social media until they graduate high school
- U tube is just as harmful.
This article increases our concern for our children (patients) and families.
Stay safe, and consider the difficult step of a much more strict internet, phone, camera and video use policy.
Even if your kids are mad about it, we promise, they will thank you for it later.
On popular online platforms, predatory groups coerce children into self-harm — The Washington Post A global network of online groups has targeted thousands of children with a sadistic form of social media terror that authorities and technology companies have struggled to control, an examination finds.
Pfizer, take note.
Moderna makes pediatric COVID-19 vaccine 100% returnable Moderna's new return policy is part of an effort to improve vaccination rates as infections and hospitalizations are rising.
Due to a water pipe rupture at the office building and water needing to be turned off to correct it this afternoon we will be closing early today. We apologize for any inconvenience. Dr Berry is still on call and will be available via telehealth this afternoon.
We plan to be back in clinic tomorrow.

Not all roads are bad, however several staff do not feel safe traveling from where they live - overpasses and water main break in the area. Thank you for understanding as we want to keep everyone safe.
COVID update:
BA.2.86 is the new COVID variant circulating in the US. Per preliminary data this variant does not seem to trigger more severe illness than prior variants, however the WHO and CDC are seeing a significant rise in cases. In the past couple of weeks, this variant has tripled in detection in the US. Emergency Room visits and Hospitalizations due to this variant are rising.
We continue to carry and administer COVID vaccines for ages 6 months+, including adults. If you or your children are in need of a COVID vaccine/booster, please call us at A Bright Future Pediatrics, 972-208-8668 to schedule an appointment.
New COVID Variant Takes Hold in the United States TUESDAY, Nov. 28, 2023 (Healthday News) -- The prevalence of a highly mutated COVID variant has tripled in the past two weeks, new government data shows. Now, ne
60 million children worldwide currently have not received a single dose of any vaccination. Children who have had zero doses of vaccinations account for nearly “half of all child deaths from vaccine-preventable illnesses, according to Gavi, the organization that helps fund vaccination in low- and middle-income countries.” Of note, this is not saying that the remainder are fully vaccinated yet still died, and it does not say that they were adequately vaccinated for the vaccine preventable disease they died from.
The most common side effect of vaccines is adulthood.
Unvaccinated and Vulnerable: Children Drive Surge in Deadly Outbreaks About 60 million “zero-dose children” have not received any vaccines and have aged out of routine immunization programs. Protecting them will require a costly vaccination blitz.

Did you know that approximately 200,000 children and teens under 18 have been hospitalized with COVID since 2020? Did you know that our risk of developing Long COVID syndrome increases with each COVID infection we have? We can minimize these risks and others from COVID with yearly COVID vaccines.
It is recommended that everyone 6 months of age and up receive at least 1 dose of the 2023-2024 COVID vaccine this year. Some of those 6mo-4years of age may need more than 1 dose. We can let you know during vaccine clinic if and when additional doses may be needed for your child.
A Bright Future Pediatrics has a shipment of COVID 19 vaccines coming in for anyone 6months of age and above. We are able to vaccinate the entire family, including parents and grandparents if desired either as self-pay or we can file with your insurance company.
