Well this was a long time coming due to supply chain issues, but the new Jake's Burgers and Beer is opening in Addison. This transformation of a 50 year old building was amazing. Saving only the exterior framing and slab, we created a beautiful building, from top to bottom, inside and out.
Thanks to our talented staff and great subcontractors for a wonderful job. Thanks also to Jake's owners Courtney Lindley and Bob Gregg for entrusting Olicon, Inc. with this project. Best wishes to you on a what is going to be a home run.
I would like to offer my congratulations to my nephew, Michael John Oliver for being promoted to Brigadier General in the U.S. Air Force. Thank you Mike for your service to our country.
I have had the pleasure of enjoying a good life. I have great employees, family, friends and clients. Two things I really enjoy are the ministry that I am involved with in East Africa and shooting sporting clays. Well it's time to put the two together.
May 11, 2022, Olicon will be a sponsor for the 1st Annual Barry Wood Ministries Clay Shoot, benefitting our Discipleship Ministry in East Africa. The event will be held at Elm Fork Shooting range in Dallas. This will be a fun-filled morning of shooting with great prizes, all while helping spread the Word of Jesus Christ to our brothers and sisters in East Africa.
Watch our page over the next couple weeks for the registration information. We not only need shooters, but sponsors and donations. If you don't shoot, you can still be an important part of this good work. We welcome all!
Olicon was proud to be a sponsor in the 1st Annual Bustin' Clays for Kids fundraiser, benefitting the Burleson 4H and the Burleson Clay Shooting teams. Our hats are off to the organizers of this event, especially fellow Aggie Cara Ellison who chaired the fundraiser. They set the bar high with 40 teams!
it was good for me to see my sister and her family, including her granddaughter who is a proud member of the Burleson 4H Club.
Olicon, Inc. is always excited when working with Business Jet Center at Love Field. The Rock project is no exception, except it was postponed from a Spring 2020 start to a Fall 2021 start. The project gets its name from the 6000 SF Rock building that is being razed in order to build a new 21,000 SF parking lot for the rental car fleet. The project also includes the removal and replacement of nearly 70,000 SF of ramp area inside the secured air space, replacement of 7500 SF of parking at Hangar Delta and the construction of security fencing and new access portal 704 at the perimeter.
The project is being performed in five phases, in order to prevent disruptions in air traffic, at Hangars D, E, F and K. the project is now in Phase 5, which is outside of the secured air space. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-March 2022.
At the beginning of the pandemic the Blue Goose Cantina in Addison had a fire. The restaurant was closed for almost 18 months while the Tenant and Landlord wrestled with the insurance company. The tenant decided they would not renew their lease, so the Landlord decided to update the exterior of the building to make it more appealing to prospective tenants.
Olicon, Inc. was hired as the design-builder for the work. We engaged Katus Design Group out of Austin for the design.
The project has gone smoothly although the supply chain problems have delayed material deliveries. The windows will arrive this week and the overhead doors the following week. We anticipate the completion to be the first week in March, weather permitting.
The Olicon family is sad to announce the passing of one of our dearest employees, Larry D. Miller, retired superintendent and friend to many. Larry worked for Olicon for 22 years. Larry was a wonderful employee, faithful husband, father and grandfather. Larry loved his Lord Jesus Christ and found comfort in knowing that he will live with God forever.
Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances, three children, Larry Jr., Jennifer and Frank, and seven grandchildren. Larry was 75 years of age. He loved God, his wife and family and all the grandchildren, and of course he loved a good hamburger!
Larry was a true friend to me. I met Larry in 1983 when I first came to Dallas. We worked together at Meredith Construction. Larry came to work at Olicon in the 1994 and retired in 2016. Larry was a Navy veteran and served some time in Viet Nam.
Larry, I know that I speak for many when I say that you will be sadly missed, but I rest in the assurance that you will spend your eternity with your Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

2021 Deep Freeze
To all of our friends in DFW and around the great State of Texas, I hope you endured the deep freeze that has plagued our State this week. For those who endured severe hardships without power, heat and water and who suffered damage to your property, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Such an unnecessary and devastating event. We pray this will never happen again, in Texas or any other State.
Many have called us looking for a contractor to help with repairs. Unfortunately, we are commercial contractors and do not perform work in residences. A word of advice; be patient and research contractors that solicit you. There will be a feeding frenzy with contractors trying to capitalize on insurance claims. Ask for references and call the BBB. There are good contractors out there, just not enough for all of the work needed to be done.
Now the good news! If your commercial building, offices, church, etc. has been damaged, Olicon can help. This is what we do, and we do it well. Contact us soon because our schedules are getting booked on a first come, first serve basis.
