Do I love and care for myself the way I am wanting others to love and care for me? So often what we are seeking externally, we are not even giving to ourselves internally.
I see it all the time with clients. The epiphanies that come through during sessions. In part, because of the power of EVOX and subconscious work, but also because when the spirit is ready, so much more tends to surface.😌
The subconscious is only ever trying to protect us, even illness can often serve a purpose. For example, in illness an individual may finally receive the affection, care and attention they have been yearning for; it may be a reason they can give for not attending events or gatherings they didn't want to attend in the first place but were forcing themselves too before illness.
This is not to say that all illness is purely subconscious-based and is not meant to be victim-blaming. With that said, for those wanting to heal from chronic illness, cancer or a sudden onset of illness these are deeper areas worth reflecting on.🤍

I often imagine I am sitting down with a future version of myself and we have a chat. Especially when I am facing big decisions and tests in life. Moments where I feel my intuition nudging me one way and my fear pulling me another. When I talk to my future self, I get to hear what she has to say on both fronts. Her encouragement and gratitude if I were to overcome the fear is inspiring and uplifting. Her hurt and disappointment if I were to remain stagnant is just as inspiring. Big decisions are hard, but I try to remember that I am responsible for protecting not just present-day me, but future-me as well. Creating a life she will love and feel so aligned in starts today.

Sometimes setting boundaries can feel like we're being mean or harsh. And maybe avoiding boundaries protects other people in our lives from unwanted feelings that might be caused by addressing them. And yet, not setting boundaries can be just as confining for the people in our lives as it is for us. It keeps everyone stuck in limiting cycles of harmful behavior and even harmful energy. I don't set a boundary, now resentment is brewing and that resentment ripples out energetically to myself and everyone involved. Setting boundaries can be a loving thing to do for yourself and everyone involved.
We don't often realize that when we don't set boundaries and prioritize safe dynamics out of fear of ruffling feathers, what we are unconsciously saying is, "I will protect their feelings at the expense of myself." I'm not suggesting we become crass, mean or disrespectful. We can set boundaries and change relational dynamics from a place of grace and respect. It doesn't have to be either/or, all or nothing.

This is why subconscious work is the foundation with which I approach emotional healing (and why I'm pursuing my PhD in Depth Psychology). We may understand and have processed alot consciously, but there can still be subconscious imprints that need to be addressed.
