Trout fishing goes Catch and Release starting March 1 in all waters except for the trout management lakes, where the daily limit is 1 Trout per angler. Please check the regulations for the lake you are fishing as size limits may apply. Harvest in most waters re-opens at 6:00 am on April 13, 2024.

Chris Parisi looks pretty pumped about this big FRAA holdover rainbow he caught a few days ago, I don’t blame him. New fishing report is up, click the website link below. So plenty of good news for this week: the flows are excellent with a small flow cut likely for today, and tons of mild weather in the long range forecast starting today. The other good piece of news is we saw a stocking truck drive by this morning- I imagine you’ll see the upper river from the dam in Riverton down through Whittemore stocked, and they’ll probably also hit down below the permanent TMA/C&R from below the 219 bridge in New Hartford down to the Nepaug River in Canton sometime this week. FYI, the permanent TMA/C&R gets stocked once a year in April. Upstream and downstream from that gets stocked many times throughout the year. -Torrey.

We continue to get our large retired SEEF brown trout stocked - albeit slowly but surely. Today Beach Pond (Voluntown/RI) and Long Pond (North Stonington/Ledyard) were stocked.

From our crew stocking the fish today, both lakes are completely open water - no ice.

Stocking Update: We completed the stocking of the yearling "SEEFs" today by stocking Squantz Pond. Up next will be the larger retired broodstock SEEFs and then the retired Atlantic salmon broodstock. River stocking has been a challenge the past month due to super high amounts of rainfall leading to flooding. We continue to monitor flows and forecasts seeking a good time to stock.
