This week's PCE price index, which is the Fed’s gold standard of big picture inflation measurement, confirmed progress. Although not likely to be enough for a July rate cut at next week's Fed meeting, it's widely believed to result in a September rate cut if the data doesn't do anything crazy between now and then.
