Join us on July 22, 2024 from 10:00 am -3:30 pm for a FREE single-day immersive community service experience for newly-admitted students that provides an introduction to what it means to be a Corsair.
UMass Dartmouth is ranked among the top universities in the country for its dedication to community service. Last year our students completed 252,464 hours of service because that’s what Corsairs do! Get ready to have fun at the beach and be the solution to pollution! You will join the organization, Be the Solution to Pollution, in cleaning up the beach, followed by a little fun in the sun.
Here’s what the day looks like!
10:00 -12:00 AM - Gather, meet new people, participate in games, sports, etc.
11:00 - 11:45 PM Lunch Available
12:00 Noon - Buses leave from UMass Dartmouth’s Parking Lot 5 and arrive at Fort Phoenix around 12:30 PM
12:30 PM - 2:00PM - Beach clean up with Be the Solution to Pollution.
2:00 PM- 3:00 Pm Beach Time
3:00 PM - Bus leaves Fort Phoenix and arrives on campus around 3:30 PM.

Worried About Getting Things Done? Here's a Checklist Just for You and Your Student!

2. Reserve Housing to Log in at my.umassd.edu. Click on "Student Resources". Click on Student Housing Information Info Portal (StarRez). Click on Housing Application. Follow the steps to complete the housing application and select your room.
3. Pick/Check Your Meal Plan. Meal plans are required for all new and transfer commuter and residential students at UMass Dartmouth. For meal plan questions or help signing up for meal plans, contact [email protected]. Learn more at dineoncampus.com/umassd.
4. Set up your UMassD account to check email, complete financial aid requirements, pay your bill, check grades and find out information about classes, etc. To learn more, please visit https://www.umassd.edu/cits/newstudent/activation/
5. Complete your Math Placement Test. Once you have set up your UMassD account, you may log in to the myUMassD portal to complete the placement exam. Like the English placement exercise, this will help us determine if you are ready for college-level math, so try your best.
6. Attend New Student Orientation. You will receive your fall class schedule at Orientation. Learn more at https://www.umassd.edu/orientation/

Hearing a lot about COIN? Coin is our one stop shop for students to access resources. A student can grant access to the following COIN functions:
1. Academics: Class Schedule, Advising Report, Course History, Grades, Transcript, Enrollment Verification
2. Bursar/Billing Information: Account Summary, Health Insurance Form, 1098 Ts, Waivable Fees, Invoices, Make a Payment, Payment Plan Enrollment
3. Financial Aid: View Financial Aid/Award
It is also the place where your student will waive the health insurance fee.

Your student can provide authorized access. COIN Authorized User access is designed to preserve the integrity of the student's UMassD Logon while allowing involved parties to securely view information that a student wishes to share, including reviewing the student’s account, making a payment, enrolling in the monthly payment plan, and accessing 1098T statements for tax purposes.

Need Help with Billing, Financial Aid, Housing, Dining & Accommodations
The beginning of the college journey is an exciting time, but it can also come with many questions! That’s why we’re offering a series of informational webinars for new students and their parents/families to help ease your transition to UMassD.
Understanding Tuition, Fees, Housing, and Billing
Need help navigating tuition, fees, housing, dining, billing, and financial aid? We’re hosting Zoom information sessions for families and students on July 18 & 25, and August 1 at 7pm with representatives from the Bursar’s Office, Financial Aid, Student Services, Housing & Residential Education, and GreyStar. We’ll offer support to parents and students struggling with housing applications, roommate selection, billing, and eligibility for housing check-in, as well as answer payment plan questions.
Reasonable Accommodations Process
The Office of Student Accessibility Services (OSAS) will host a virtual workshop on August 22 at 10am to assist you in areas related to the college transition. You’ll learn about expectations of professors, available resources, your student responsibilities, and tips to ensure your academic success. Topics include time management, self-advocacy, learning to become interdependent learners, and more.

Celebrating our Dean’s & Chancellor’s List
Following the completion of each semester, undergraduate students who have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.200 (Dean’s List) and 3.800 (Chancellor’s List) and completed at least completed at least 12 graded course credits (excluding administrative credits), and who have no “I” or “IP” grades outstanding for that semester, will be named to the Dean’s List.

Has Your Student Selected a Room and Roommate? Students Must Select A Room In Order to Complete Application Process
Did you know that applying for housing, selecting a room, and finding a roommate are all at your fingertips. Don’t have a roommate? There are roommate matching and selection tools to help you find a match based on your profile similarities and differences.

2. Click on "Student Resources"
3. Click "Housing Application"
4. Click Roommate Selection page
5. Search for Roommate by Name, Search Roommates by Profiles, or ask system to Suggest Roommates. If you select Suggest Roommates, the system will show you percentatge matches with other students who have similar preferences.
6. Once you find a match, click send roommate request. Individuals can also send you are request.
7. You will need to go to Roommate Selection which will identify a roommate group listing your parties of interest. You can accept, decline, remove or send additional messages to potential roommates.

Based on the Massachusetts Department of Public Health requirements (105 CMR 220.000), UMass Dartmouth requires the following students to provide documentation of all required immunizations prior to the start of college:
1. incoming full-time students
2. nursing and medical laboratory science majors:

5. full-time, part-time, continuing education, matriculated and non-matriculated

Family Orientation
The UMass Dartmouth Family Orientation is a one-day program for parents, guardians, or significant others of our first-year students. You will meet with our professional staff, student Orientation Leaders, and learn firsthand about university policies, procedures, and programs to help residential and commuter students succeed.
Remaining Orientation Dates
June 25-26 Session 4 Overnight Stay
June 28 Session 5 Orientation
If your student is attending the overnight session, your Family Orientation takes place on Day 1 of their session.

Check-in begins at 8am and the program continues until about 5:30pm.
The per-person cost is $30 to attend this Orientation if you register in advance. The cost is $40 per-person on site. Debit or credit cards only.
While younger children may accompany family members during the orientation program, there will be no separate programs or special accommodations for them. If attending, younger siblings attend sessions with family members.

Session 1 Orientation starts tomorrow. We're excited to see you and your student at 8am! The UMass Dartmouth Family Orientation is a one-day program for parents and families. Here's some helpful information:
1. When you enter campus, bear left and park in lot 4, 5, or 6.
2. You and your student will head to the Campus Center, and you'll be directed to check-in at the Blue & Gold Room. The program continues until 6pm.
