Hailey Williams '24 is using her recent commencement gift to help Luna, a Doberman with a rare autoimmune disease, at Forever Paws Animal Shelter. Williams, an engineering student, was inspired by her love for animals, especially after bonding with on-campus rescue dog, Gracie (IYKYK)!

"I started out not knowing if I could do this, and now I'm going for my master's degree. It really shows what can happen when you believe in yourself and have a good community behind you."

To demonstrate their spirit of giving, philanthropists Robert and Karen Hale gifted each member of the UMass Dartmouth undergraduate Class of 2024 in attendance with $1,000 at today’s ceremony to help them start their journey with generosity.

“These trying times have heightened the need for sharing, caring, and giving,” Hale said as he encouraged each graduate to give half of their gift to another person or cause.

Congratulations to our undergraduate and graduate nursing students who were inducted into the Theta Kappa chapter of Sigma, the international honor society of nursing, in this year's ceremony. Assoc. Prof. Jennifer Viveiros served as keynote speaker and Chelsea Martinez '25 received the Scholarship Award for the Junior with the Highest GPA. Each student received a certificate and Sigma cord to wear at Commencement.
