More than half of Volusia Countyβs senior citizens struggle with financial stability, with 52% falling under the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) category or below. Despite these challenges, thereβs hope. The Good Samaritan Society, in collaboration with CF UWVFC, has chosen the Council on Aging of Volusia County to continue its legacy. The newly established Diamond Fund will provide emergency assistance to seniors in need, helping them stay in their homes. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between crisis and stability for our elderly community.
βItβs an opportunity to both look back but to look ahead to make sure that that notion of freedom and the fragility of it is always protected and celebrated.β
