I have been keeping this quiet but it’s finally time to drop the big news! For those of you who have been following my journey of taking over Indie Craft, you may know that this began with a trip to SewGreen, a fabric thrift store in Rochester, NY, last April. I was so inspired by the store and their mission, I knew immediately I wanted to bring that to Atlanta but wasn’t sure at the time how, but the universe had a plan for me. Two months later, the sale of Indie Craft was announced, and we know how that ended up! The beginning of this year I was approached by Leigh Metcalf of Topstich Studio and Lounge. She was looking to move into a larger space and asked if I would like to partner with her in this new opportunity. My brain started moving a mile a minute, and as soon as I saw the space, I knew there was home for this fabric thrift store that has been stuck in my mind.

I am so excited to announce that Second Stitch Fabrics, Atlanta’s sustainable fabric store, will be opening soon alongside Topstich in their new studio space! This will be in Decatur, right across from Kudzu and Dekalb Farmer’s Market. Second Stitch will be primarily donation based. Our mission is to make fabric and sewing accessible and affordable for all. We all have those extra stashes that we don’t quite know what to do with, but we’re done using, and it doesn’t really fit for Goodwill or other donation locations, and that’s where Second Stitch comes into play! We want to give second life to your stash and keep as much textile waste out of landfills as possible.

We are currently accepting donations and plan to open in April. Please follow as well as for updates! If you would like to make a donation, please DM me, and there will be a form on the Indie Craft Experience website as well.

As part of this new space, there will be room to host classes (so many of you wanted to teach!), sew and craft social nights, supply swaps, mini niche markets, and more! We will be announcing more information on all this soon!
