On September 27, 1998 my father went out to have drinks with friends. While at the bar, having a drink, he went into cardiac arrest. He was lowered to the floor and the one single person in the bar who knew CPR started to work on him. Giving compressions, giving breaths..... alone. She continued as best she could with no one to switch off with until the ambulance arrived..... and arrived too late. He did not make it.

Ever since that day, I have always wondered if my dad would have lived to see his grand children, lived to walk me down the aisle, lived to give me adult advice, and how many more times we would have shared a drink and talked about life. How many bbqs we would have enjoyed together. ...... if that lady had some one to help her do CPR. It is a conversation that has happened many times between my mom and I....... and now, I am in a position to TEACH CPR...... and maybe some one who went through me will be in the right place at the right time, and save a young girl’s daddy.
