Dear Delran Families,

I wanted to give an update for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, 2024. This evening’s forecast is for icy conditions and freezing temperatures both which will impact the early morning commute. The Delran School District will have a two hour delayed opening tomorrow, January 17, 2024.

We wanted to give families ample time to prepare. Our hope is with slightly warmer temperatures, additional time to salt the roads and walkways, additional road traffic and sunshine, we will safely be able to open tomorrow with a delay. We will review the conditions in the morning to make a decision if we need to close school for the day. Bus pickups will be two hours later than normal. Please be patient with your bus arrival and drop off times, as the drivers are navigating road conditions.

Dr. Lisa Della Vecchia has been appointed as the Interim Superintendent of the Delran Township School District for a one-year period. With a background in teaching, leadership positions in various school districts, and extensive experience in student services, Dr. Della Vecchia's appointment is seen as a valuable asset to the district as they search for a permanent superintendent.

Mr. Brian Stolarick has been appointed as the Principal of Millbridge Elementary School by the Delran Township Board of Education. With over 25 years of experience in education, including various roles within the Delran School District, he is known for his collaborative leadership style, commitment to school safety, and thematic approach to learning.

Delran senior Riley Ahrens using her voice to spread mental health awareness Delran High School has a long history of student-athlete excellence, but senior Riley Ahrens wanted to do more than just win on the court to make a bigger impact around mental health awareness in the community.

Each year, the New Jersey Department of Education invites public school districts to recommend outstanding educators for special recognition. Exemplary Educators exhibit strong knowledge and skills, an inspiring presence, and a positive impact on students, colleagues and the school community. The nominee must also have a rating of Effective or Highly Effective on his or her most recent final summative evaluation. Out of 180 recognized in New Jersey, Millbridge teachers Megan Jones and Kathryn Schneider were among the very best in the entire state and have been recognized by the New Jersey Commissioner of Education.

Dear Community Members,

Delran Township is home to many great people who contribute far and wide to each other for reasons large and small. What is likely the greatest attraction for Delran to its residents is the communal feel that the residents have for each other.

We have residents who hail from Turkey and Syria who call Delran home. To that end, at the District, we are all saddened for victims in both Turkey and Syria who are suffering from deadly earthquakes and have lost loved family members and friends.

Our District is filled with wonderful educators who all embrace the community they serve. At the District, we are able to support families in a myriad of ways. If you are experiencing loss in connection to these devastating please contact your child’s Principal or Dr. Lisa Della Vecchia ([email protected]) to ensure that you and your children receive any additional support you may require.

There are local opportunities to contribute to support initiatives for the earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey. Please reference the organizations below.

Must be a citizen of the United States of America, at least 18 years of age to qualify for office, able to read and write, a Delran Township resident for at least one year, not disqualified as a voter pursuant to N.J.S.A 19:4-1, not disqualified from membership for the conviction of crimes pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1, a registered voter in the district.
