I know there are lovers and haters of this camera. That's good, this camera isn't for everyone. But I love this camera. The Polaroid I-2 is super frustrating at times, but that just comes with shooting instant film. It takes practice. You have to look past the price of the film and just trust the process. You will have plenty that won't work out. But when you do get one it feels even more special. You get to be the observer, the participant, and the creator. That’s why I love it. And I love that when all else fails and you want to make sure you get a good shot and put it on Auto. It’s pretty good that way.

I love the green/warm color palette on this. A little bit cold when shooting, but quickly stuck it under my armpit. I think all of that nastiness came from me walking around while it was developing.

If all senior photo shoots were like this I would have changed things up a bit over the years. A true pleasure to go out and make something fun.

Kind of bright, kind of soft, kind of good. Shot with the SX-70

The I-2 is good for selfies. Just enough distance to focus. Unless you have tiny arms. But average arms work just fine.

Love this shot from earlier this summer. Taken with my SX-70 camera. I had restore and convert my camera to shoot 600 film. I love the look of the original SX-70 film but 160 asa is kind of tough to shoot with. So opted for a little more flexibility. I can still shoot the original film in the new I-2. The focus is amazing on this old camera. I know there have been a lot of comparisons with the 2 cameras on what is sharper. I would probably say the I-2 wins, but manual and minimum focus wins on this camera.

Shot about 3 months ago. One of my first test shots. I was trying to use a strobe, but the camera had a problem synching so I switched to using an LED light stick. Auto exposure- no compensation

A lot of good things happening for me in this shot. Not just in the photo, but in the moment of the shoot itself. Maybe even better if it were all black and white, but that little bit of color is nice.

This one may be a little dark, but check out all of that nastiness in the film. I shot this in auto but brought the exposure down about 2/3. I think it was a little too overcast to go down that far. It was cold that day, maybe 25 degrees. I had the camera in the bag until I shot, and then quickly shoved the print in my coat under my armpit. I am guessing that my movement probably caused a lot of the cracks and possibly the larger undeveloped spots. I loved scanning this and seeing all of that weird film stuff.

I forgot you have to keep polaroids warm when you develop them. It's been a while and it was a totally rookie move. I would always just stick them under my armpit. Lesson re-learned. So if you were wondering, polaroids turn green when they are cold. I guess this knowledge is good to have if you are wanting to shift the look as it develops. Or forget about it and burn through some more film.

One of the first successful manual shot photos late last fall. Although there is a little movement, still a beautiful shot. So good that you can hand-hold this camera with slow shutter speeds. You should probably switch to decaf to make it even better. This was before I gave up caffeine FYI. Shot at F8 @ 1/10th of a sec.

Denver | The Grandby | Winter 2023 I love this truck. I see it all the time and I want to know all about it. It's like a time-capsule jam-packed with things collected over decades. I would love to hear those stories it has to tell.

The first double exposure on the I-2 Polaroid. The camera can do up to 4 shots on one piece of film and they say it will compensate the exposure for how many you are doing. I think this will be a cool feature to try in the studio, but guessing you may burn through some film getting it close to what you want. I think I need some subjects other than myself.

The first roll of film with the sprocket rocket camera. Forgot that it’s always a good idea to tape the back shut just in case. Obviously I don’t tape the back shut but it made for some good flares.

I can’t say that this is my favorite camera to shoot with but it is a bit of a treasure in some ways. The wide angle is more interesting than I thought and love the combo of camera weirdness to scanning weirdness.

Missing Grenada right now. Especially when you know it's 85 degrees and sunny. Time to go back soon.

The cold and darkness are not necessarily my friends. But over the last few years I have learned to embrace it for what it is. To be present with it, accept it for all that has to offer. It’s not a friend that i would normally hang out with but I want to learn from it as I know it’s a part of me and a part of life. It’s a time to go still, imagine, plan and reflect. I am learning to accept the cold and darkness as I know sun and warmer weather is not too far away.

NYC |Summer|2023One of those trips where you didn't process the roll for a while, and then you forgot you shot it. I was always excited to see film come back from the lab but for whatever reason this roll sat on the shelf for a while. Maybe because the scanning process is not fun or maybe because I struggled with the camera and didn't feel as excited to see anything. I think this is a good one though. Late afternoon somewhere wandering through NYC. Almost looks like a long exposure night shot. Not even sure what film this was. Most likely something from the Lomography website since there is no info on the edges. I shot this with the sprocket rocket camera. Back in the day I would save the paper and spindles from my 120 film and re-roll it to fit in my you would get a very similar effect except for a lot more twisting of the film so it made a lot of shots look miniature. Way easier these days.

Looking forward to a little warmer weather to get back out with these guys. I won't take these days for granted anymore. I know I need it as much as they do. And now with the new hardware installed in my heart, we may just keep walking. West, until we hit the ocean.

Kind of a parking space, kind of not. Looks good to me though. Here's a good example of Auto and manual.l exposure. You need to figure out a few formulas with this camera otherwise you may waste a bunch of film.

This film is nasty. In a good way. Brand new camera, brand new film, but all of the nasty imperfections that come with an instant image. Check out the detail shot.
