As an equal opportunity employer that is female-led, with a workforce that is 67% female and 9% LGBTQ+, access to abortion is non-negotiable.
Meet Jared, an intrepid force who single handedly manages project allocations to our graphic designers, helps with sourcing linguistic projects, assists with recruitment needs, and works as the main linguistic researcher for all of Wordbank!
In his free time, Jared enjoys reading fantasy novels, cooking delectable meals for people he loves, and is a HUGE fan of . He also digs Dungeons & Dragons and creates campaigns complete with detailed maps!
We’re proud of Jared’s fierce passion and advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community. He strives to educate others about things like dead name usage, gender/sexuality identity on the spectrum, explaining how using inclusive language is better than simply using the language “as is,” along with many other important issues.
An interesting feature about Jared is his love for dark techno and industrial music, as well as anything gothic. He says, “I really love seeing the community come together to express itself in such creative ways.”
Jared is a social butterfly who loves promoting cooperation, drive, morale, and occasionally a good joke. Wordbank is a much brighter and inclusive place with him on our team!

We’re committed to Justice, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (we call it JEDI). We value the broad range of identities and diverse perspectives that come together to bring Wordbank to life. These numbers help highlight the cool people who represent Wordbank:
-37% are people of color
-9% are LGBTQIA
-19% are immigrants
-17% are non-native English speakers
-50% are fluent in 2+ languages
-40% of our new hires are from underserved groups
And our global resource network, which spans 120+ countries and employs highly educated, professional subject-matter experts, comprises 52% of individuals from a low-income socio-economic background and 63% underrepresented women & minorities around the world. Our commitment to fair trade translation and defending the value of human talent helps promote sustainable practices and alleviate poverty.
But we also recognize that JEDI isn’t a one-and-done checkbox. It’s a commitment. And we continually strive to make Wordbank a place where everyone feels welcome and has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Our workers take care of our business, so we take care of our workers.
The last few years have certainly been challenging as we've continued to grow in the midst of a global pandemic. Wordbank has staffed up aggressively, growing our in-house teams by 60% to support people with wellbeing levels to help prevent feelings of overwhelm and burnout. We’re proud of our 81% staff engagement level and that 80% of our people feel they have a better work/life balance because of our increased staffing.
And we also continue with our remote-first hybrid model so our people can have the choice and flexibility of where they work. We’ve expanded our reach with people in 7 countries, 12 US states (and 10+ international time zones). This strengthens our follow-the-sun model to support increasing demand for quicker turnaround times, without sacrificing our human approach and quality.

Wordbank is female-led, with a female CEO, a global executive team with 50% female representation, and a global management team that’s 80% female.
This International Women’s Day, we want to shine a spotlight on the incredible women that make Wordbank what it is.

All throughout March, we’re swinging our doors wide open and inviting you to go and see what happens at Wordbank.
Being a B Corp is something we’re really proud of, so for the next 30 days, we’ll be sharing what that means to us and why it matters. Come and find out what's Behind the B.

Meet Jazmin, who has been one of our top-notch project managers for almost 3 years!
At Wordbank, Jaz collaborates with designers both in-house and internationally in order to produce and deliver the best creative projects to our clients. And she does it with genuine sweetness coupled with a “go-getter” attitude.
When she's not working, Jaz likes to be OUTSIDE! Hiking, snowboarding, and volleyball are some of her favorite hobbies. She also enjoys exercising her mind by reading, solving puzzles, and building her vocabulary – both in English and Spanish. Jaz is also a pretty good singer. While she says she's too shy to sing publicly, her talent is undeniable!
Everyone who works with Jaz is inspired and grateful for her refreshing point of view, her deep well of knowledge, and her tenacious attitude.
Thank you, Jaz, for sharing your wonderful spirit (and skills) with all of us at Wordbank!

In honor of Black History Month, we’re continuing our segment on highlighting Black people who have been historically overlooked. This week, we’re featuring graphic designer Sylvia Harris.
Harris was a graphic designer, teacher, and pioneer in the field of social impact design. She is known for creating large-scale public information systems that helped break down barriers for library access and allowed people from different cultural backgrounds to more easily communicate with each other, facilitating the exchange of ideas internationally.
Her work with Citibank set a precedent for human-centered automated customer service. She also focused on using design to solve problems at civic agencies, universities, and hospitals.
Harris served as Creative Director of the Census Bureau’s 2000 Census, where her rebranding efforts engaged with underrepresented citizens and encouraged them to participate. Her logotype and graphic standards for this project are still used today.
Harris passed away in 2011, and in 2014 was posthumously awarded the AIGA Medal, a prestigious award in the graphic design field. AIGA remembers her as always wanting “to do the right thing, the smart thing, the thing that would make the biggest difference to the most people.”

Meet Marina, one of our gifted designers who joined the Wordbank team last year and helps with our Ukrainian and Russian projects!
While Marina had initially planned on a career in finance, she realized that math didn’t fascinate her in the same way as design.
Marina loves to travel, especially spontaneously. She often wakes up and decides she’d like to be somewhere different the next day. She loves exploring and being inspired by new cultures – and she finds inspiration in seeing new places from the point of view of a local, not just a tourist. This insightfulness is a wonderful gift that she expresses through the marvelous designs she creates at Wordbank.
We appreciate you so much, Marina, and what you contribute to the Wordbank team!

In honor of Black History Month, we’re continuing our segment on featuring Black people who have been historically overlooked. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on pioneering graphic designer LeRoy Winbush.
Winbush began his design career in 1936 when he was fresh out of high school. He worked on designing signage, murals, and flyers for the Regal Theater in Chicago, which later led him to design album covers for various successful musicians.
As the only Black American to be hired by Goldblatt Department Store’s sign department in the 1940s, Winbush revolutionized window displays and earned a reputation as one of the country’s top airbrush artists.
In 1945, Winbush founded his own studio, Winbush Associates – one of the first Black owned and operated design studios. He also worked as the art director for Johnson Publishing Company, where he helped to create the first issue of Ebony magazine.
A pioneer in exhibit design, Winbush created a sickle cell anemia exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry, and he later became an exhibition consultant for the DuSable Museum of African American History. He also designed various exhibitions of the Underground Railroad to illuminate the public to Black history, past and present.
Later in life, Winbush worked as an assistant professor teaching visual communication and typography at Columbia College and the Art Institute of Chicago. He was also the first Black member of the Art Directors Club of Chicago and, five years later, he rose to become the president of the organization.
Tune in next week to learn about another prominent, lesser-known figure of American history.
