A private equity firm closed one of Colorado’s few birth centers. The community brought it back. A private equity firm bought Seasons Midwifery and Birth Center in Thornton and then shut it down. It’s now been resurrected as a nonprofit.

This groundbreaking study is bringing voice to the birthing experience of many that has previously not been acknowledged or they have been gaslit with BS like ‘At LeAsT YoUr BaBy iS aLiVe’ or similar.
This is a big deal and to think this only accounts for the people who recognise they were treated in this way. Many more simply accept that this is what it’s like to give birth in this country.
We need to stop breaking women and parents just as their journey begins.
We need to stop accepting that *this* is the standard of care we can expect as we go through one of the most transformative experiences of our adult life and demand respectful care as bare minimum.
If your birth experience left you traumatised, regardless of the outcome or mode, you deserved better.
Thank you to the brave authors and contributors to this research.
We need to name and paint a picture of a problem and show it the light of day so we can begin to create the solution.
