And just like that…my chapter here at Pet Supplies Plus has closed. ❤️ 2.5 years ago I came across this location needing desperate help for volunteers. I had never volunteered before but I am so glad I reached out and started this journey with the amazing Ten Lives Club!

Throughout my time here, I learned just how grateful these cats are to have someone just show up for them and be there for them when they have no home.

I always said “oh I could never volunteer it’s to hard to say goodbye to them” or “I would just end up taking them all home.” But as I grew, I realized that while yes you have to say goodbye, and yes you can’t take them all home, that one hour you spend with them is the best hour of their whole day.

Our space is a single cat adoption store, making it the perfect place for leukemia cats, seniors, shy cats, and “harder to place” cats. It was always so fulfilling to see them blossom as I gained their trust. Finding the most patient, loving homes for these cats has always made the wait well worth it.

Thank you to the amazing pet supplies plus staff, all of the customers that came regularly on a weekly basis, the incredible adopters that have adopted from us over the years, and Moreen for helping me out always❤️ What a great community of people coming together all for the cats.

I’ll still be around volunteering, fostering, and helping out Ten Lives Club and other organizations! As they say…rescue never stops! Volunteer, Foster, Adopt! We’re truly all in this together🐾🐈‍⬛

Thumbelina has left the building!! We are so beyond happy that Thumbelina has found her furever home. Thumbelina will have a quiet home with no other pets in Williamsville with her new mama! She picked out a few new cat scratchers and toys in the store before she left! Kathleen promised that she would always love and take care of Thumbelina as she was buckling her in🥹

Kathleen reports: “We just got home. She’s checking every room out. I went out to put my car in the garage and I talked to my neighbor. When I got back she was waiting for me at the door. I sat down and she jumped on my lap and she hasn’t stopped purring.”

The adventures of Thumbelina💫

The sun was shining and Thumbelina was itching to get out of her “closet” space. We bundled her up and went for a nice stroll where we could watch the birdies and soak up the sun🌞 Squeeze up treats and snuggles were waiting when we got back inside! Thumbelina fell asleep on my arms afterwards with her paws in the air from air-biscuits🥹 She is just the sweetest most loving baby!💗

Meet THUMBELINA🧚🏻✨🐾

This sweet girl just arrived at our store! Thumbelina is a little old lady who is 12 years old and a tiny 8 pounds🥹 Thumbelina is also a polydactyl kitty so she has extra toes on her front paws! She comes spayed and up to date on all vaccines through Ten Lives Club.

Thumbelina has had a very rough start to life. She was rescued by an amazing person after being found on her porch right before a big storm. After being surrendered to TLC, she was thought to be pregnant. However, it ended up being Pyometra(a very painful infection in the uterus).

Thumbelina was treated and recovered just fine! She then began her journey from store to store hoping the right person would come around. She was adopted, and not long after returned. Thumbelina has now made her way to us and we promised her that this would be her last stop!

Thumbelina needs to be the only animal in the home. No other dogs or cats. She would LOVE a quiet home where she can be the queen that she is! Thumbelina LOVES to talk to you, flip over for pets, and especially make biscuits! She is such a sweet baby and deserves to live out her golden years in a home where she can snuggle and just BE❤️

Lucy and Stewy living their best life❤️ Mama is still giving them their space as touch is scary to them but they are thriving and moving at their own pace🥹

Suzy and One Spot (now known as Lucy and Stewy) have left the building!!! These two have been bounced around, never having a place long enough to call home. After many long conversations and a successful meet and greet, Heather knew she was the one to give these two the life they’ve always deserved. She has a calm, quiet home, and is willing to be extra patient. Lucy and Stewy have a new cat tree and lots of covered beds waiting for them to hide out in and decompress. We’re hoping the right person sees this and can open their home to this brother and sister duo. Adopting out bonded cats is always more challenging, and especially when they are also VERY shy. Suzy and One Spot are almost 2 years old and come spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccines. They were adopted as kittens and returned a year later to our shelter. They have been bounced around and being shy, this has been detrimental to building their trust and confidence. Suzy and One Spot need a home with no dogs or younger children. An experienced cat adopter or someone willing to be patient and committed to putting in the work that these 2 will need to open up would be preferred. They love humans in their own way, and their eyes long for a home where they can relax and finally decompress in. Suzy and One Spot are shy and reserved in nature. The adventures of Suzy and One Spot!🤪 These cuties have been at our store (4970 Transit Rd Depew) for 3 weeks now! They are not candidates for leash walking with their shyness so the double stroller was a go today!! For those of you that don’t know, Suzy and One Spot were adopted as kittens from our store a year ago. They were returned for scratching furniture from trying to hide and being extremely terrified/shy. We are on the search for their real furever family this time and we know they are out there!! ⭐️Brother and sister bonded duo, must be adopted together!
⭐️Almost 2 years old. Comes spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccines.
⭐️No dogs or children in the home. They do okay with other cats as long as they are chill.

Suzy and One Spot were adopted from our location about a year ago as kittens. We were so excited because it was a quiet home with no dogs or younger children which was exactly what they needed! However, they were returned back in September for scratching up the owners furniture from trying to hide.

Since September, they have been overlooked and waiting at our main shelter. They were and still are, very shy. While One Spot has grown to become slightly more outgoing, Suzy is still very hesitant of humans.

They are a bonded pair (brother and sister) who must be adopted together! They are now 2 years old and come spayed/neutered, and up to date on all vaccines.

We are looking for a hero to give Suzy and One Spot a chance. They WILL be scared in your home at first and it WILL take time for them to acclimate. It could be weeks, months, a year, but we’re looking for someone that is committed to them no matter what and willing to be patient.

They have so much love to give, but it has to be at their pace. All of this bouncing around has only made it worse for them to trust and open up.

As for the scratching, that is a normal and instinctive cat behavior. They do it to express emotions (like stress or excitement), to mark objects with their scent (they have scent glands in their paws), to remove the dead part of their nails, and, often, to get a good stretch in. Having multiple scratchers around your home will help with this! Declawing is ILLEGAL in NYS and we don’t support it anyways!

This cutie is 3.5 years old and comes neutered and up to date on all vaccines through Ten Lives Club! Jack was found in a rough area where people were trying to poison and kill him and his friends. Luckily Jack (and his other friends) found their way to Ten Lives to start a new chapter! Jack is the biggest love-bug EVER! You’ll probably find him making biscuits in the air and flipping for belly rubs! He has the chunkiest cheeks and big paws! Jack has such a gentle and loving soul. All that these mean is Cosmo has an extremely compromised immune system. He is more susceptible to getting sick but regular vet visits and a healthy diet will help him to thrive! Cosmo must be the only kitty in the home as the FeLV part is contagious to other cats through sharing of food bowls, litter, etc. There is a vaccine that non-FeLV kitties can get so that they can live with FeLV kitties but this is something that would be up to your discretion and should be consulted about with your vet! Keep in mind this is NOT contagious to humans or dogs! Cosmo is the sweetest little guy ever! Meet INDY & MARROW!🤍🖤

These cuties are officially available for adoption through Ten Lives Club! Indy and Marrow were found living behind a dumpster in a busy Tim Hortons/ gas station parking lot. When my sister went to go take out the trash for the night, she saw these two shaking in the cold next to the trash trying to get at the food. Luckily, we were able to secure them and get them inside safe. They have both been spayed and vaccinated and are learning how to navigate indoor life. These girls are as sweet as can be but are very shy and scared. They have been getting better at my home as I am fostering them, but still have a ways to go! They LOVE other cats and do really well with them! No dogs however or young kids. Indy and Marrow love to be pet and snuggle with you on THEIR terms! Indy (pin stripe on head) is a bit more outgoing then Marrow is. They are not fans of being held for long periods of time and will hiss if scared. We are also working on approaching them to be pet as they will run currently unless you go very slow. We are looking for someone that will be PATIENT and UNDERSTANDING with them! They hide often but do come out and love to play with a cat wand! The potential is there they just need the time and patience to get there. COSMO got some plain turkey tonight (without bones or seasoning of course) and completely DEVOURED it! He couldn’t stop eyeing the bowl when it was all gone😹 After a nice Thanksgiving meal, he gave me the cute eyes to ask for more and then decided to do his favorite thing in the world…plop on me and snuggle!

This is how COSMO and I spend our time together!🤪🪐🐾 If you’re looking for a complete love bug who just wants to head butt you for kisses, snuggle on top of you, and curl into your shoulder like a baby, then Cosmo is your guy!

Cosmo is almost 3 years old and is looking for a hero to give him a chance! Cosmo is the friendliest, most loving cat ever! He constantly rubs up against you and head butts you for kisses and pets! Cosmo has been waiting for quite some time to get adopted. We think that might be due to him being both FIV+ and FeLV+. However, education about these viruses will lead you to change your mind about Cosmo and many other FIV/FeLV Kitties. FIV stands for feline immunodeficiency virus. This means the cats has a compromised immune system and is more susceptible to getting sick. FIV cats CAN live with other non-FIV+ cats without contracting the virus (unless through a deep wound bite). FeLV+ stands for feline leukemia. This is similar to FIV , however the cat infected has a much more serious comprised immune system and can get extremely sick just from the lightest of sickness like a kitty cold. FeLV cats cannot live with other non-FeLV+ cats as it is contagious through grooming, litter sharing, saliva, etc. However, NEITHER of these are contagious to humans or dogs. They are feline only viruses. With Cosmo having both of these, he basically has a VERY weak immune system and can get sick easily. He also would need to be the only cat in the home or with other FeLV+ kitties since the FeLV+ part can spread to other non-FeLV kitties. There is a new vaccine for non-FeLV cats that they can get to allow them to live with FeLV+ kitties. But, that would be up to your discretion and something you would want to consult with your vet if you were interested in Cosmo. While Cosmo is special needs due to this, and a harder to place cat, that does NOT take away from his absolute ADORABLE personality! This guy has so much love to give and will quite literally give it to everyone he meets! Please consider adding Cosmo to your family and giving him his happily ever after.
