After over 19 years, Red Rooster Records' last day in Highland Park was March 30. Thank you for the nearly 20 years of support in the space that started this dream of a 21-year old, Highland Park kid that grew over the last two decades to be the second oldest record store in Des Moines.

But, don’t worry! We aren’t closing or leaving record sales entirely. Follow this page and our Instagram to stay up to date with our next steps as the business pivots. While the next stage is in the works, please check out my first pop-up record store event at Maggie’s Rumble Room on April 21st, which will be every 3rd Sunday of the month moving forward, for my freshest finds, vintage music related posters from my archives, and vinyl DJing of some of my favorite records.

I will still be here to help you add to your collection and buy/sell/trade LPs, cassettes, CDs, and more. Also, if you have an outstanding gift certificate or store credit, reach out to me for how to redeem or refund. No matter what your record store needs are, you can always reach me here on Facebook.

For those wondering about the short notice, this change was not by choice. Rent needs to be at market rates to keep Highland Park growing in a positive direction. I agree with that and offered more than asking to be able to support the landlords aspirations while still being able to stay open. However, the fully documented circumstances and lease terms created by a broker forced me out without time to prepare for informing customers of the situation. I wish things would have resolved differently, but I had to make a quick decision and do what was best for myself and my family.

Thank you again to all my customers throughout the years. I couldn't have made this dream a reality without you all and I’m looking forward to working with you again soon.

We will be taking Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 off to spend time with family. We will reopen on Wednesday July 5. Hope you all have a great 4th of July weekend.
