I’m excited to be participating with Parenting For Liberation’s Celebration!!
Tune in tomorrow for “What’s Your Why?” Intention setting!!
Plantworld: 🗣 it’s
Me: 🗣f**k these succulents!!!
Y’all.
I try. I fail. I try again.
But why do we do that tho?!
All these beautiful thriving plants I got up in here, and I’m set on killing a succulent.
And I know it’s my ego.
Because I don’t like the idea that it’s a plant I can’t grow. That I can’t keep alive despite all my best efforts. All my fancy well draining mediums and barks. All the plant lights.
Succulents come up in here and just give up.
And maybe, just maybe I’ll stop this cycle betweenst us. Because at some point, Issa waste of time, money and energy.
So, that’s it.
A little transparency. Because I struggle. And my plants struggle. And that’s just life. Not sorry.
You’ll know when it’s for you.

Peench (n.)
1. a passed torch.
2. A story, told time and time again.
3. Life.
a. Let me share mine with you
i. Bloodline. Friend. Family.
4. A Cultural marker
a. a language.
Peench (v.)
1. To show one’s affection, kinship or community through the gifting of a plant cutting.
2. The way one obtains the cutting, typically engaging the nails of the thumb and middle fingers to slice through a stalk, to be rooted and started as its own plant.
3. Peench (adv.)
The way my grandmama said “I love you”
Both the verb and the noun.
Like lots of us, our plant numbers boomed over the last six months especially. We’ve found community on these platforms that make us feel somehow close to folk around the country. Dope right? It’s half amazing, half disheartening to witness the judgement and shaming that comes from not knowing.
To have your image shared out of a safe space and be labeled a thief. Tuh.
I thought everybody had an auntie or grandma that loved them in this way.
Who knew.
I also thought Usfolk could be gentler, more human with one another through plant life and care.
Who. Knew.
These some of my peenched plants y’all.
Yep. Gifted or gotten with permission. Because peenchin is part of an exchange of love. It’s an agreement between both parties to continue the life. And in so doing, and when it’s right, share forward.
Y’all *DO* know that’s the history behind the wedding bouquet, right???
That’s it. That’s been on my heart to share for a while now.
Biases bring harm to safe spaces.

Hey y’all.

That’s it. Thats all I got. That’s the plant post today.

One of The most dramatic plants I keep alive.
My , NormaDesmond.
Because nobody brings me good old vintage white woman drama quite like she can.
This is also called a , I imagine because of the vein pattern in the leaves. I’m convinced it’s because it will in fact get on your last nerve.
The fainting, need to be tended to. I would see it slumped and swear she was dead. I swear. If was a plant...
Confession: I’ve let her faint just to bring her back.
There’s this sweet power/responsibility aha that happened for me.
It’s fascinating to watch.
I don’t let her faint that much anymore. Every once in a while.
Now that I know her ways, I catch her when she starts to pout.
So I guess she’s taught me this:
You control how drama affects you.
UPDATE!! 👚: N'Genious Creations
Not your peace.
Your plans.
Your plants.
And if you old school like me, your money. Because that’s what certain Xers call that bread, cheese, cheddar, them duckets... that wap.
So here’s my money tree, Wap.
Say whatupdoe. Cuz he Detroit.
Anyway-
I know Whatchu want...

Hey y’all.
This Otis.
Otis is my . Inch plant or Wandering Jawn in these streets.
I happened upon this photo here on when I first got Otis. Nobody knew Otis' name would even be, Otis.
I also learned that what my mother had been calling a "wandering j**" all this time, is really a purple passion plant. I kept saying, "no, this is NOT the plant my mama had".
But the lady at the nursery said, "this is the wandering j**"
So I got it.
See, I wan't even looking for Otis.
Over time, Otis grew.
Then the stalks fell like a combover that just gave up.
So I tucked the stalks back in the pot.
Found my California Raisin, and put it in the pot to hold the stalks I tucked.
This is when Otis became, Otis. I tried to call him Ms. Otis, because once I take a cutting and make another plant, I assume the plant to be the mother. The Ms, just didn't stick.
So he just Otis now.
He just sing to hisself. And grow.
When I water and turn or post about Otis, I remind him:
🗣Ain't nobody came to see you Otis.
And look.
Otis don'teem care. Otis, is Otis-ing.
And whether or not you came to see Otis,
you gon see him.
And that's the lesson for today.
Let your purpose be your audience.
This is Muva Seymour.
She’s my monstera deliciosa. I’ve had her about 6 years now. Maybe 7.
She’s got several babies out here in the world... Denise, She More, and a couple others yet unnamed.
She’s leggy and unruly, and She holds all of the lessons I’ve learned in her stalks.
Neglect.
Care.
Persistence.
Resilience.
What it takes to thrive.
How not to over give, which for me, is huge. I’m yet learning.
How to listen to things unsaid.
She’s let off 10 new leaves in the past 2 weeks it seems.
Ah, life.
What is plant care teaching you??
It’s your homegirl here.

Fun fact- did you know that this plant earned its nickname “dumbcane” because it can cause numbing or swelling of the tongue and throat if ingested, leaving the victim unable to speak. This is caused by calcium oxalate, which form "raphides," which are tiny, needle-like structures.
Anyway- I ain’t forget.

Hey y’all
I’m on a little vacay, in a cabin in the woods.
Left the plants at home, but I’m out here with they cousins.
There’s nothing like nature.
There’s also nothing like deep woods Muh Skeetos. They make nests in citronella bushes so these little candles just make them homesick and hungry.

So you KNOW one of my great joys is supporting black business, yes?
And I do this via other things that bring me joy... plants, tee shirts, art, etc.
And while I blocked this person, I may go back channel and express just this, and ask her to please support, rather than take from Black creatives.
Lord knows I would’ve supported her, and shared so that others could’ve supported her too.
Cuz that’s just who I am.
And because I don’t know her, I don’t know if she playin or not.
But I feel this responsibility to protect the shirtmakers that I promote and share, and won’t chance it.
But now, she got me feeling like I can’t be myself and share my joys with other black folk.
And I’on like that.
It really do be your own people...
My friends tag me in s**t like this...
Why they gotta call me out like that!!?!
