Last month hosted preeminent scholar, philosopher, political and social activist as part of its Fall 2023 Global Conversations Speakers Series.

The event was held at The View located in the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Center at the Northwest Campus.

Ignition Media Group had the pleasure of attending and look forward to supporting future events!

This past Friday morning, Ignition Media Group's Founder and CEO, Dennis Archer Jr., joined forces with NBA Star Jalen Rose to kick off a day of service and celebration. The event included a panel discussion at Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, a tuition-free, open enrollment high school serving over 400 scholars in Northwest Detroit.

The panel featured award-winning journalist Rhonda Walker, META's Global Director of Audience Marketing Crystal Worthem, Amazon's Head of Community Affairs Ian Conyers, and entertainment industry executive and lifestyle specialist Kenny Burns. Students attentively listened as panelists recounted their experiences in service of others and their personal journeys from high school to professional careers.

They joined host Dennis Archer Jr. and moderator Hiram Jackson at this month's Pancakes & Politics Forum on Race, Culture and Religion. recently received a grant to establish a Detroit Center for Black Studies. Over 80% of Detroit's population is Black and this news allows for our city to be the leading authority on this important field of study.

The center will recruit 30 multidisciplinary faculty members connecting scholars from institutions throughout the state who work in the African American, African, and African-diaspora fields of study. Wayne State anticipates the project taking 4-5 years before it is fully operational.

Detroit is hosting the inaugural Motor City Kwanzaa Celebration today from 3-4:30 p.m. It will feature a live virtual presentation by Kwanzaa founder Dr. Maulana Karenga, a performance by the African drum and dance group Nanou Djiapo, a demonstration from Alkebu-Lan Warrior Martial Arts, and more.

Following the celebration, the group will move to Campus Martius Park to light the world's largest kinara at 5 p.m.

Congratulations to Ignition Project Manager Crystal Head on her graduation from ! With a brand new Master of Urban Planning Degree, is ready to take on 2023 and beyond!

Thank you to everyone who donated coats and warm items to 's 9th Annual Winter Drive. We were able to donate one coat, a scarf, a pair of gloves/mittens, and one hat to each student at Fisher Magnet Lower Academy just in time for the cold front that's coming in. We are grateful for the donations and for for hosting our drop-off location. We appreciate the support we received from Principal Dr. Shekitra Green and loved meeting her remarkable staff and her wonderful students.

Ignition Media Group is collaborating with 's 9th Annual Winter Drive for the 2022 holidays! We need your help to collect new and unused coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and socks for Detroit students at Fisher Magnet Lower Academy. Please bring new and unused for students in grades Pre-K - 4th Grade to our drop-off location by Thursday, December 15th. The donation box is located in the restaurant lobby.
