Today at 2PM is the ribbon-cutting for ten interpretive signs along the Joe Louis Greenway between W. Warren Ave. and Joy Road. The signs will guide visitors through the history of the Midwest-Tireman neighborhood and was inspired by residents wanting JLG visitors to know more about their neighborhood.

It's taking a bit longer than anyone'd hoped, but the Anna Scrips Whitcomb Conservatory will still be reopening this year, just not until winter. The glass looks amazing.

In the meantime, the Belle Isle Aquarium is celebrating its 120th birthday by opening one extra day a week during August, so for the month that's Thursday through Sunday, admission always free.

Not a ton of details, but still great to hear that Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance has funding and intent to better connect the Detroit Riverfront and Belle Isle Park - Michigan for pedestrians and cyclists.

"The new trail is designed to cater to the most popular year-round activities at Belle Isle Park, including walking, biking, and enjoying river views. It will connect the newly completed Riverfront connection to the MacArthur Bridge on the mainland and establish a trail from Belle Isle to the MacArthur Bridge."

Thursday is the deadline to take the Michigan Department of Natural Resources' online trail survey.

"The online survey, which closes this Thursday, Aug. 1, includes questions about the kinds of activities enjoyed on trails, conditions and amenities that make for a great trail experience, frequently visited trail regions in Michigan and more. We want to hear what you have to say about biking, hiking, track-chair operating, paddling, horseback riding, off-road vehicle riding and snowmobiling on the more than 13,400 miles of state-designated pathways and your local and regional trails."

A whirlwind of a week in the life of Wheelhouse: Toured around a family from LA, our monthly Auto Heritage tour, a National Geographic writer, and PBS' Travels with Darley; provided bikes for DNR Outdoor Adventure Center's Camp Explore and The Eastside Community Network's tour of greenwater infrastructure; completed fast and fair service on 34 bicycles; and rented out nearly 300 individual bikes. And a few other things, probably, too.
