📣 Exciting News! Our Volunteer Program is Back! 📣

We're thrilled to announce that our Volunteer Program is starting back up! To kick things off, we have a Volunteer Orientation this coming Friday, June 28th, at 9 AM.

This orientation is open to new and returning volunteers and will provide an overview of the areas where we need help. It’s designed to bring more knowledge to our volunteers about our procedures and practices, as well as how volunteers can help us the most. We're trying something new with our orientations, so if this date and time don’t work for you, please let us know what would be more convenient.

After attending the orientation, you can volunteer as your schedule allows. We look forward to seeing you and working together to make a difference for our furry friends!

Caleb: A gentleman of 3-5 years with a serene soul. He's fully vetted and has been patiently awaiting 6 months to find his forever home. He would do good with other calm dogs but doesn't prefer rough housing or cats. If you have a quiet household and love relaxing companionship, Caleb might just be your perfect match!

Monroe: At 2 years old, Monroe is a picture of tranquility on walks. She's house trained and fully vetted. She has been a perfect dog while in our care for the past 9 weeks. Could Monroe be the serene buddy you've been searching for?

Chip: With a heart as big as his love for belly rubs, Chip is a 1-2 year old sweetheart who prefers to be your one and only furry love. He has been with us the last 7 weeks and has been the biggest sweetheart. He walks like a dream on a leash and is fully vetted, just waiting to bring joy to a lucky family.

Callie: Bursting with sweetness at just 1 year old, Callie is a social butterfly who adores playtime with other dogs. Fully vetted and overflowing with love, she's been dreaming of a forever home for 6 months now.

You’re invited to celebrate National Dog Park Day at Clinton Nature Preserve this Saturday, May 4th at 9:00am. Join us for a special ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of the new dog park at Clinton.

Make sure to bring your pup along! There will be treats and goodies for them to enjoy!

"Mother knows best" isn't just an old saying—it's a critical guideline in caring for kittens. The natural care provided by a mother cat is unparalleled, and despite our best efforts with bottle-feeding and raising kittens, we can't match it. Especially since our shelter doesn’t have the resources to adequately care for neonatal kittens without their mothers.

Why It’s Crucial to Let Mother Cats Be:
A mother cat instinctively knows how to protect and nurture her kittens. By providing essentials like shelter, and consistent access to food and water, we can support her without interfering.

👀 Observation First:
If you find kittens outdoors, observe from a distance for a few hours. The mother is likely nearby and may be gathering food, relocating her kittens, or simply taking a short break. Or simply waiting for YOU to leave.

How You Can Help:

- Provide Essentials: Offer regular food and water. Learn more at alleycat.org/BestPractices.
- Offer Shelter: Explore outdoor shelter options at alleycat.org/ShelterGallery.
- Maintain Distance: Monitor them discreetly to ensure their safety but minimize disturbance.

Important Reminder:
If you are not prepared to fully commit to the round-the-clock care required by these kittens, please do not disturb them. Prematurely removing them from their mother will jeopardize their chances of survival.

🐱🎉 The Colony Cat Program is Back! TNR Days Scheduled!🎉🐱

Attention cat lovers! We’re excited to announce the return of our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, kicking off this May. Get ready to help control the local feline population responsibly and humanely.

Here’s what you need to know:

Drop-off:
- Cats must be dropped off in Humane Traps between 7AM - 8AM Friday Mornings. Pull around to the back of the building. 2171 Mack Rd. Cats must be Ferals/Unfriendly. Kittens must be 3lbs+ and Healthy.

- Fee: $20 or a bag of kitten/cat food per cat.

- Dates: The next 4 Fridays in May (3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th).

- Pick-up: Cats must be picked up the same day by 5:30 PM.

Our TNR program is a key part of our commitment to reducing the number of homeless cats and preventing future generations from facing the same challenges. By participating, you’re not only helping your neighborhood cats, you’re contributing to a larger cause of animal welfare.
