12/12/12 is a date our patient Jane will never forget.

In 2012, Dr. Mills performed a craniotomy for tumor resection on Jane for a Glioblastoma. For those who may not know a patient with a Glioblastoma (a brain tumor) has an average life expectancy of 18 months with treatment.

Today, we are happy to report and celebrate that she is a 10 year survivor of her Glioblastoma!

Jane is a living miracle! As she will tell you herself she is “happier than ever living her best life!”

Thank you Jane for allowing and trusting Dr. Mills to continue caring for you and becoming apart of our Delaware Brain and Spine family! We love you and are so happy you by far have beat the odds!

Congratulations to Dr. James Mills from Delaware Brain and Spine, who completed a case that required a right craniotomy, resection of a tumor, and a right cranioplasty. During this case, Dr. Mills and his OR team at Beebe Healthcare performed the first robotic craniotomy in the state of Delaware!

This multifaceted procedure included the use of ExcelsiusGPS® and its cranial application for robotic arm-guided instrument trajectory assistance and freehand navigation capabilities. Through the use of the robot, Dr. Mills aims to reduce the drawbacks of traditional cranial surgery, decrease radiation exposure for his OR staff and patients, and improve targeting accuracy.

🧠Highlight Statement: Would you have this procedure again? “Yes!”

Patient Margaret M. presented to Delaware Brain and Spine in July of 2021 with the main complaint of lower back pain.

“My lower back pain started off slowly and would get to the point where it hurt so bad it felt like my back was going to break. I had one surgery prior to coming to see you and that worked for a couple years but since I came to see you, I am doing good!”

Margaret experienced lower back pain so severe that it limited her ability to perform daily routines such as washing dishes, vacuuming, and hanging clothes to dry. The patient was even unable to walk at times. Instead of rushing the patient directly to the operating room, Dr. Mills approached this patient with conservative treatment first. “We tried other things which I was glad about instead of jumping right into surgery. Some of it worked but it was not long term.” The patient and Dr. Mills agreed to proceed with the surgery.

“You explained everything thoroughly!” “The procedure was done in May; it’s now November and I feel a lot more like my old self!” Margaret and her husband recently were able to attend the Delaware renaissance fair for about 2 hours and she walked the entire time with ease.

Office/Surgeon Experience: Margaret stated, “both surgeons were very personable, and the staff were extremely helpful, and they followed through.” “You took the time to listen.”

Celine was born this morning, 8/30/2022, at 7:56 AM and weighed 5lbs 14oz, and measured 19 1/4 inches long.

Both Ayhana and her beautiful baby girl are doing well!
