I am a Utah hairstylist moving to North Carolina in July of 2017. I am certified in NBR Extension by DKW Styling. I wear and am completely obsessed these extensions. I also specialize in natural colors and cuts for women. I apologize, but I am currently NOT accepting new clients needing haircuts only, men, or children. Contact me for a free consultation or to make an appointment.
A little shorter and brighter after being dark for the winter.
Happy Memorial Day! I spent the day in the salon but had so much fun chatting with my clients.
And check out this fun transformation with 1.5 rows of hand tied extensions.
A gorgeous client and hair that makes me jealous. No extensions, perfect texture, and just gorgeous.
Sorry I am so MIA the last few months. Life is good! My girls keep me busy and my husband will be done with PA school in 3.5 months. Where does time go?! Job hunting time is upon us!😱
A fun, fresh cut and color for this gorgeous and intelligent woman. Love all the amazing women who I’ve been able to meet in the Duke Physician Assistant Program.
Custom color and ✌🏻 rows of hand tied extensions.
Fine to full with ☝🏻row of hand-tied extensions.
I forgot to take a before 📸 but for her color, this was the second session of balayage and babylights to rid her of the brassy tones in her hair.
1.5 rows of hand-tied extensions, custom color, a fish tail braid and a gorgeous client.
Sorry I’ve still been MIA. But sometimes life calls you to disconnect, ya know?!
I am still here. Still creating some beautiful hair that I love like this. But also trying to be more present in my family life. Trying to find a balance between all of life’s demands.
I am not going to lie. Sometimes it feels good to take a break from the phone and posting. Does anyone agree with me? Anyone tried it?
Added a cute fringe, a custom color and she is rocking 2 rows of hand-tied hair extensions.
Yep... you read that correct. Extensions don’t always have to be long.
I know I have been absent on here over the last couple weeks, but I have been enjoying time in Utah, disconnected from my phone and spending quality time with my family for Christmas. But back in NC now. Hope your holidays have been wonderful as well❤️
I am still loving this transformation with only one row of hand-tied extensions... and so is she. Love when I get messages a few weeks later from clients who are in love with their new hair.
2019 hair is looking good for this pretty lady!
Took this pretty woman to the dark and dimensional side today. (Forgot a before picture🤦🏼♀️)
This cute new mom came to me to fill in the sides of her hair and thicken up her hair. (I forgot to snap a before🤦🏼♀️)
Between postpartum hair loss and a recent haircut (not cut by me) she needed some hair in the front and sides by her face.
We were able to match her natural hair color with luxe hand-tied hair and give her the fullness she wanted in time for the holidays with only ☝🏻 row of hand-tied extensions.
This women has had some major damage from a different method of extensions a few years ago. She even wore wigs for a while afterward to hide the damage.
Between this damage and getting older every year (oooh time where do you go😂), her hair just isn’t what it used to be.
A whole new woman walked out of my suite today with only one row of but the hug she gave me and the confidence in her face is why I love my job.
Give me a 🙋🏼♀️ if good hair gives you more confidence.
Is your hair so hard to brush when you get out of the shower?
Tip ... brush your hair out well BEFORE getting in the shower or getting it wet. If you have extensions this is extra important.
If you don’t, those tangles will “lock down” and become matted. Making your job to brush it out harder. Then apply a leave in conditioner to make combing even easier😊
I love . What kind of brushes do you like?
2 rows of custom colored hand-tied extensions.
Her husband didn’t know she was getting extensions. When he came home, he noticed she was blonder but didn’t notice the added length. When she told him, “he couldn’t believe it or figure out where the extra hair was.”
I am in love with this transformation today! Extensions do not have to be really long to add thickness, body, and some added self confidence!
2 rows of 14” hand-tied extensions for this babe.. Really? Where?
I love when people are shocked I wear extensions. “They look so real! I would never know!” Well 😊 that’s the point. Even with my hair shorter right now, I am wearing one full row of extensions.
Braids and a natural looking color for the win!
2.5 rows of hand-tied extensions for this beautiful and hard working momma who happens to own where I rent a suite.
She is trying to grow her hair out. To help her not cut it off again at awkward phases, she decided to get extensions put in her hair.
Transformations like these make me consider going long again with my extensions...🤔
I am flattered by this gorgeous girl. Her mom and her aunt are stylists and have been the only ones to ever color her hair. But she saw my work here on Instagram and came to see me (with her mom’s blessing☺️)
Balayage and babylights and we are working making her brighter and adding fun pops of blonde while keeping her hair healthy and shiny with and Acidic Milk Rinse.
She came to me with extremely brassy hair. So happy with the progress we made. And her hair still feels amazingly healthy😍 And I’m stoked for her... she is going to be a new woman in a few weeks when she gets her She will have amazing Holiday Hair!
How is everyone’s Wednesday going? We had family pictures today outside the Duke Chapel. .by.richelle is the BEST and I can’t wait to see the end product!😊
Random fact about me... I have severe misophonia. And I feel justified there is a name for it these days...
I cannot stand to hear the smacking sound of eating. Like it makes me angry😬 Claire, my 4 year old, is the noisiest eater. I am constantly getting after her during dinner. (I feel so bad and try to not let it annoy me but it does 😫) But guys... you know it’s bad when you wake yourself and husband up in the middle of the night when you say, “Claire, stop smacking” in your sleep. Yep... did that last night 😂😬
I have shared before I also can’t stand open cupboards😜 I’m odd... I know. Tell me something weird that annoys you?
Love fishtail braids so much! And so do many of my clients. It has been a fun and easy style to teach them after at the end of their appointments. This fall colored braid was created with Texturizing Spray and .pompadour Texture Powder. Do you like fishtail braids in your hair?
Up close dimensional blonde details... love them. This look was created with balayage and babylights. Shine and health curtesy of and Acidic Milk Rinse👏🏻
Last week was so busy! This week is better so now I am attempting to work on the enormous pile of laundry that has accumulated and needs to be folded. And I got behind on a reading challenge with my church. I am determined to get caught up this week. Anyone else behind of stuff right now? Or am I alone?🤷🏼♀️
From solid dark to dimensional. This is our second appointment. First appointment, we did more subtle balayage highlights. Second appointment was a full head of babylights with a shadow root. I’m loving her transformation!
Sorry I’ve been pretty MIA. I have had some major phone issues, vacation, and now catching up on life. Feeling like I bit off a little more than I can chew this week. But found ways to simplify (like buying part of the girls’ costumes instead of making it all). I’ve accomplished a lot though so I’m feeling a little more in control! Except for the laundry pile😱 We won’t go there.
Anyone having a busy week and just trying to stay afloat?
I’m magic. 🧙🏻♀️👌🏼Even my nephew was convinced for years😜 (Well timed pointing and snapping at some Christmas lights)
Can you see how small my fish tail braid was? I used some Texture Powder and Texturizing Spray for some grit and hold. My bangs will NOT do this without product.
I start at the bottom on the braid and work up. I keep pulling and rubbing trying to get both sides of the braid even.
I secured with a single bobby pin. (See my last video on how I get ONE bobby pin VERY secure)
Another reason I love big, messy braids... they last a few days. I recorded this video yesterday and my braid still looks awesome today.
Did you find this helpful? What would you like to see next?
Longer, thicker and fuller. 2 rows of and a custom color.
Do you pull your bangs to the side and it slips halfway through the day? Or you have to use a half a million bobby-pins?
I am often asked how I get mine to stay with just ONE bobby-pin. Watch this quick video and see!
Then try this trick in your hair if you didn’t already know. Did it hold better?
✌🏻rows of extensions and a fresh color.
She has been coming to me for a year for NBR extensions. Do you want to know what she said when we took her extensions out...?
“I can’t believe how long my natural hair is now! There is hope! It’s finally growing!”
Natural hair can grow while wearing NBR extensions. So combine that with the caution we’ve taken while coloring her hair, , RAW Milk Rinse... her natural hair has become so much healthier this last year. Woohoo🙌🏻
Check out that 💍
So glad we could get this bride to be in today. Really was not sure it was going to happen for a bit. Things got a little crazy in Durham, NC. Tornados, flooded roads on the way to the salon, friend’s houses flooding, last minute changes to schedules, stuck cars in more flooded roads. But I made it safely🙌🏻
We replaced her extension hair with fresh Luxe hand-tied hair, fresh color, and practiced some engagement picture hair. After her appointment she was a show stopper at the mall with her
Even though she wanted a very natural looking color, I still did a full head of my favorite foilayage technique. Subtle does not necessarily mean less color, time, or product. I also freehand painted additional highlights while she sat in the bowl for more sun-kissed pieces.
Although we did all of this, this color will grow our seamlessly. These are perfect trends for teenagers! Natural but enhanced!
My stylist put a handful of highlights in my hair when I was a teen. I couldn’t see them much which was probably so smart😉 No maintenance. I actually forgot I had done that for a long time. I didn’t color my hair again until I went to cosmetology school when I was 19. Then things got a little crazier... I stayed in natural tones but I went really light, then really dark, then light again in too short of an amount of time😬
Did you ever do anything to your hair when you were a teen you regretted?
Fresh color and her 2 rows of have been refitted. Swipe and see her hair before NBR extensions. This transformation has given her side coverage and fullness. Does anyone else have sides that don’t grow well? I sure do!🙋🏼♀️ @ Durham, North Carolina
So I have been trying to find how I like it curled with my new shorter length. I’ve felt like Shirley Temple a few days😂 I have liked the super messy textured look though. I used Texture spray on my hair before I dried and parted on the opposite side I have ALWAYS parted on. Soooo much texture and volume.
It’s FriYAY!!!! And this hair gives me weekend feels! Messy and braids... she’s ready for the weekend. Am I right?!
I am not working and excited for some fun and time off with my family. Praying my girls let me sleep in past 7:30am tomorrow or even 8am🤣🙏🏻🤞🏻😂Then Kendyl’s school carnival and a party at church. Sunday... church and relaxing. I love Sundays! Total Mom weekend though huh?! I know my cool younger sisters would make fun of my mom life😉
What are your plans this weekend? Who can relate to mine? Or tell me your exciting plans and make me jealous😜
