The Triangle Clean Cities Coalition was founded in 1999 to improve air quality and reduce dependence on petroleum by promoting alternative transportation fuels. By bringing together fleet managers, local and state government officials, fuel and vehicle providers, and interested citizen groups, we are helping move North Carolina towards a more sustainable future.
Applications for TCC's 2023 Summer Internship are due THIS Sunday, May 7.
As our communications & outreach intern, interested individuals can expect the following responsibilities:
- Ensuring that Coalition communications are relevant to our market and up to date
- Manage Clean Cities communication channels (social media accounts, monthly newsletters)
- Write and publish profiles of local partners (fleets, local governments, private companies, etc.)
- Maintain and update the Coalition website (add events, update content, add or change pages when necessary)
- Assist with outreach event planning (graphics creation, promotion and marketing, day-of logistics)
- Work to integrate racial and environmental justice and equity into Clean Cities communications
- Coordinate and communicate with key stakeholders and members
- Conduct research about state policy developments, alternative fuel vehicles, and other topics of interest to Clean Cities stakeholders

TCC is seeking a communications guru to intern with us for the Summer 2023 Semester! Do you know any students interested in the transportation sector and communications?
Interested individuals should have the following skills:
- Experience managing social media channels
- Experience with digital communications and marketing platforms and strategies
- Experience with graphics creation (Canva or similar)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills, comfort adjusting messaging to different audiences
- Ability to take ownership of a project or task
- Openness to learning new things

Calling all students interested in clean energy, alternative fuels, communications, public relations, and MORE to apply for Triangle Clean Cities' (TCC) 2023 summer internship with the Clean Cities University Workforce Development Program (CCUWDP)!
TCC is looking for a creative Outreach and Communications Intern for the 2023 summer semester. This position is scheduled for 30 hours per week over a 14-week period, from early July – mid August. The intern will assist with our program’s digital presence and contribute to our strategic planning activities.
Triangle Clean Cities is a US Department of Energy-designated Clean Cities Coalition with the mission of advancing sustainable transportation solutions in the Triangle area of North Carolina. We work with a number of partners to achieve our goals and provide technical assistance and outreach support related to alternative fuels and advanced transportation technologies that reduce carbon emissions from the transportation sector. We are housed in the Urban Mobility and Transportation program area at TJCOG.
The Clean Cities internship will give students studying communications, public relations, business, marketing, engineering or environmental sciences, the opportunity to increase public awareness and expand the markets of advanced vehicle technologies, alternative fuels, and practices that reduce the consumption of petroleum. Students have participated in research, outreach activities, public education, fleet events, and a vast array of transportation-related environmental projects.
Internship dates: June 5 – August 18. Exact start/end dates determined by individual schedules.
Stipends range from $4,500 - $6,000 for the semester depending on academic classification and number of hours assigned.

The Federal Transit Administration's Areas of Persistent Poverty Program (AoPP) grant applications are due this Friday, March 10!
$20 million are available to help communities improve transit in areas experiencing long-term economic distress. The AoPP program supports planning and technical studies to improve public transportation in areas experiencing long-term economic hardship and also funds planning for transit agencies to transition to low- and no-emission vehicles and associated charging equipment.

TCC is thrilled to announce that CALSTART's East Coast Commercial ZEV Corridor project was selected for funding by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on February 15! As a partner on this project, TCC will receive $50,000 to support the deployment of commercial medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) infrastructure on I-95 and nearby freight corridors in North Carolina.

"The DOE's funding includes awards to universities and private companies ranging from $500,000 to $80 million for various pre-pilot, pilot and demonstration projects, the department said. The projects are expected to eventually create millions of gallons of lower-carbon fuel annually."
