Author Sir Alexander McCall Smith was knighted.
The writer and creator of The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series was honoured for services to literature, academia, and charity.
Speaking after the ceremony, the 75-year-old author said: "It's a wonderful thing, I'm most grateful, it's a very nice thing to happen so I'm very pleased, but of course obviously behind it there are all sorts of other people who have made it happen so I think of them."

Please join us in celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month with Learn Bhangra at North Regional Library on Saturday, May 18th from 10-11 AM!
Led by an instructor, this interactive session is a fun blend of education and movement! Families will learn more about Bhangra--an energetic, folk dance and music form that originated from Punjab, India--and then participate in a dance session to try the steps. Please wear comfortable clothing that you can stretch and move in.

The Comfort Closet has been restocked and has new signage in Spanish!
The Comfort Closet is a community resource hosted by North Regional Library with donations from the community and community partners to ensure that individuals in the community have access to basic needs. This project was created to help low-income individuals or those experiencing homelessness. If you have any questions, please contact Chelsea at [email protected].

📢 Announcement: Children's Programming Break 📢
North Regional Library's Children's Unit is preparing for Summer Reading! There will be no storytimes/playtimes or other regularly recurring programs from May 1-30, 2024.
However, Homeschool Learning Lab will continue to meet every Thursday at 10 AM. And please check the Events calendar for a few special one-offs, including "Celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month with Learn Bhangra!" on Saturday, May 18th at 10 AM.
We are sorry for any inconvenience but look forward to still seeing families here for the scavenger hunt, book recommendations, or just to say hi!
