Decisions about which activities to support are made at the community level by a board of municipally appointed volunteers.

Statewide, more than $3.3 million will be distributed by local cultural councils in 2021. Grants will support an enormous range of grassroots activities: concerts, exhibitions, radio, and video productions, field trips for schoolchildren, after-school youth programs, writing workshops, historical preservation efforts, lectures, First Night celebrations, nature and science education programs for families and town festivals. Did you know that one of the events that the Duxbury Cultural Council funded last year was the Daffodil Festival at the Senior Center?

The Daffodil Festival partnered the DSC and the Duxbury Community Garden Club to create floral arrangements to be featured and sent home with our home-bound, home delivered meal clients. At the Daffodil Luncheon, guests were treated to a farm to table inspired lunch menu and a guest speaker that provided cultural education about varieties of daffodils and the New England growing season.
