Another post op project came my way this week🤓

Head on car collision🚗 was the source of this bad humeral head break, leaving a painful gnarly scar and severely limited ROM. It’s going to be a long road ahead, but with the power of E+ PEMF 🪄 in addition to manual therapy, we gonna get her right in no time👏🏻👏🏻

One of my finishing techniques I typically add to a post op session, is the use of ROCKTAPE⚡️so the rehab care continues at home.✨

Long small strips like this are meant for contusions, swelling, and other injuries where inflammation control are crucial.✅ Small short strips are applied in a # # pattern to help with scar tissue.✅

How does it work??
👇🏼
RockTape microscopically lifts the skin away from the muscle and fascia below, creating a decompressive effect. This allows more space in between layers to move more freely and kicks your lymphatic system into gear to help decrease swelling.🤓👍🏼

Update🚨
The power of PEMF✨

Left photo: after first documented session, before the kinesiotape from the last post. ~8 weeks post op
Right photo: after second documented session today (3 days later)

It broke up scar tissue and decreased inflammation right before me and eyes👀✨

Much like a battery, the human body is electric. Our cells carry voltage. The electric charges necessary to maintain optimum health in our cells can decline from age, injuries, and illness. Electrons Plus helps restore this healthy electrical balance within the body.🔋

Electrons Plus and its low-frequency electromagnetic
pulses, can supercharge your body’s natural recovery processes.🪄Witness scars fade and wounds mend faster than ever before.🦄 Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy, or PEMF, works by harnessing the power of electromagnetic pulses. These gentle waves stimulate your body’s cells at a deep, molecular level.🧬 They activate the cells’ natural repair mechanisms, boosting blood flow and nutrient delivery to the scar site.⚡️This heightened cellular activity accelerates the healing process, reducing inflammation and scar tissue formation. The result? Faster, more efficient healing, even for fresh scars✨ Dive into the world of PEMF and experience the science of accelerated recovery firsthand. ~

Got a scar? Let’s give it a go😁👏🏻

Check out this wicked scar 👀👌🏼

Shoutout to my client who beat cancers butt like a champ🏅✨ We’ve been working together for awhile now on this and have finally reached the healed scar stage which opens the door to a lot of other fun modalities🤩

Why is my finishing go to in sessions?🪄

Kinesiology tape is a stretchy, elastic cotton strip with an adhesive backing that is designed to mimic the elasticity of human skin. When applied to the skin, it gently lifts the upper layers, creating space between the skin and underlying tissues. This space allows for improved blood circulation, lymphatic drainage, and reduced pressure on pain receptors, which can contribute to pain relief and improved healing.✨✨

In the context of SCARS, tape can help in a few ways. First, by lifting the skin, it can reduce pressure on scar tissue, which may help to minimize discomfort and promote better healing. Using this # # pattern is one of my favorites, especially if it’s a gnarly scar.👌🏼 The improved circulation and lymphatic drainage facilitated by the tape can also help to reduce swelling and inflammation around the scar.✨ The gentle support provided by tape can also help to promote better posture and movement, which can be especially beneficial for individuals with scars that may limit their range of motion or cause discomfort during certain activities.🤘🏼

Wouldya look at that👀✨

Rounded forward shoulders is basically described as a resting shoulder position that has moved forward from the body's ideal alignment. Your shoulders find themselves rounding forward, knots appear in your upper back, you get a sore and stiff neck- all symptoms that are probably the reason why you’re on my table.💥

Pulling those hunched forward shoulders back from 💩 posture, dropping those traps down and making them level, smoothing out fibers around the shoulder blades- all creating more balance in the body.🤌🏼

The physical manipulation of tissue has two major physical effects:

1️⃣ Relaxation and normalization of the soft tissue (muscle, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments),
which releases nerves and deeper connective tissues. We want pliable and squishy to be the goal🫠
2️⃣ Increase in blood and lymph circulation

Work on the problem tissue, lengthen it, and break down the adhesions until a normal range of movement and proper posture can be restored, all while increasing blood flow which feeds your cells with both oxygen and nutrients to promote healing.👐🏼

Relax, release, reset, repeat🪄✨

Old post but a good one! Who remembers this room?!😅 I’ve had a lot of shoulder issues come my way these past few weeks, thought this would be a good blast from the past.✌🏼

BICEP TENDON✨✨

Check out of this before and after👀

How’d I make this happen?
👇🏼
Shoulder work and a bicep tendon mobilization and reset = magical increased ROM and decreased pain.🥳

Your bicep muscle attaches to the humerus bone via two tendons. One of the attachments is known as the long-head, which is a thin tendon that runs through a groove at the front of the shoulder.🦴 (SWIPE to see➡️) If your biceps tendon slips out of this groove, it may slide down toward the chest and end up on the other side of the groove, where it may cause pain and other functional problems.💥

Symptoms of a slipped biceps tendon may include⬇️
• Clunking when turning the arm inward or outward
• Pain in the front of the shoulder
• Pain referring down into the biceps muscle
• Pain in the front of the shoulder and pain when placing the hand behind the back
• A catching pain in the front of the shoulder as the arm is raised or lowered
👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
Mobilize that tendon to where it’s suppose to be and wha-laaa✨ Magic.

What to do next? Figure out why this may be the issue, especially if it happens frequently. Next, strengthen shoulders to help make those biceps bullet proof.🤘🏼

Issues with your shoulder tissues? I gotchu✌🏼

Disclaimer: Full consultation and assessment of shoulder always happens first.☑️ If you have reoccurring shoulder issues, talk with your doctor or physical therapist to find the corrective course of action that’s recommended for you.

HIP FLEXORS✨

“Hip Flexors” refer to a group of muscles that flex (or bend) your hip.

There’s no formally defined muscle group because so many muscles contribue to hip movement, so exactly which muscles are classed as “the hip flexors” varies depending on where you look. They are several muscles that bring your legs and trunk together in a flexion/bending movement. They allow you to move your leg or knee up towards your torso, as well as to bend your torso forward at the hip.

Every time you take a step, you are using your hip flexor muscles.🚶🏼‍♀️Sitting too long or all day shortens and tightens these muscles.🧎🏼‍♀️ Prolonged periods of flexion without stretching can cause these muscles to tighten and shorten over time, reducing their power output, affecting your posture, and even causing back and hip pain.⚡️

Manually working these muscles and tendons, as seen here☝🏼 an active pin and stretch, will increase their length, decrease pinchiness near joints and attachment points, and also help prevent injury. 🤸🏼‍♀️ Dynamic self care stretching, or stretching in motion, is a good way to lengthen and strengthen this muscle group at home.✨

MOVEMENT✨

What’s the difference between active and passive movements?🤔

PASSIVE movement is an external force, typically by someone else, (me😉) puts you into a certain range of motion. There is no muscular contraction or motor control necessary to perform these moves. They require zero strength and control, hence they are passive. Passive exercises help prevent stiffness in your joints, work to stretch muscles, and can help increase and maintain range of motion.

ACTIVE movement, is where you’re able to do the movement without any assistance. You have control of the movement and over the muscles being used. Active exercises help strengthen the communication between the brain and body for increased movement. Using active exercises will provide the brain with the stimulation it needs to rewire itself for better body function. So, you do the work of moving, no help by me, I just move with moves your doing to help create that tension release.😉

BOTH have its benefits, so I like to incorporate both active and passive movements during sessions!

🎥: active movement of the upper back/traps

*Disclaimer: these techniques are not from “Active Release Techniques (ART),” the specific known course taught. Just simply creating active movements in assisting the muscle to relax and release tension.🤸🏼‍♀️

Are you someone who has 💩 posture?

Nearly everyone I see has some sort of tension in their upper back and neck, in the world we live in it’s hard to avoid it. People with jobs that require you sit all day have it particularly hard.🧎🏼‍♀️ Rounded forward shoulders can basically described as a resting shoulder position that has moved forward from the body’s ideal alignment. Your shoulders find themselves rounding forward, knots and soreness appear in your upper back, you get stiffness up into your neck, which may lead to frequent headaches- all symptoms that are probably the reason why you’re on my table.💥

✌🏼 primary things lead to a posture posture:
1️⃣ Overactive muscles that have become tight and are pulling the shoulders into the forward position.
2️⃣ Underactive muscles that have become weak and are failing to pull the shoulders back into a neutral position.

How to help this?🤔

👉🏼The first part involves stretching out the overactive muscles.🤸🏼 And the second part calls for the turning on and strengthening of the underactive muscles.🏋🏼‍♀️

Tight muscle fibers may seem to lock the shoulders in the forward position. So it is important to help these guys out to enable the shoulders and neck to be re-positioned correctly. That’s where I come in🪄✨

B***y stretching my way into the week like🤸🏼‍♀️✨✨

Your toosh consists of three primary muscles:
🔸Glute medius
🔸Glute minimus
🔸Glute maximus

This stretch hits all those plus that pesky that affects the sciatic nerve.🤘🏼

What could cause tight glute muscles?⚡️👇🏼

🔺sitting for long periods of time
🔺delayed muscle soreness after exercising
🔺poor posture
🔺poor form while exercising
🔺stress on the muscle from active activities
🔺not warming up before exercising
🔺not stretching after exercising

When your glutes are tight and fatigued they could cause you to have a sore low back or hamstrings, poor balance, and even shooting pain down your leg due to compression of the sciatic nerve. Relieving tension in your toosh will not only feel good, but it also allows for greater flexibility in the hips and back.✨✨

My favorite active trap move😍🪄✨

👉🏼Three major culprits of trap tightness:👇🏼

1️⃣Posture: If bad posture is not corrected early, it may become nearly permanent.👀 Sitting (where my office workers at?🙋🏼‍♀️) or standing improperly may lead to trap pain that may even radiate to the spine and supporting muscles.

2️⃣Excessive stress: Being stressed may lead to tension in muscles that become tightened. This is primarily caused by excess muscle contraction, leading to muscle soreness and pain. These symptoms may be compounded by mental strain and anxiety that often accompany stressful periods. (Basically since the year 2020😜)

3️⃣ Overuse: Repetitive activities, such as lifting heavy objects or swimming can lead to trapezius pain. People who perform tedious work with the neck and shoulder muscles are at a higher risk of trap issues.

👉🏼Massage can help you recover from or prevent a traps injury, as well as nip it in the bud before it creates other symptoms like headaches, by increasing flexibility, improving range of moniton, and relaxing tense muscles.💆🏼‍♀️✅

LOOK AT THOSE CUP MARKS 👀

This is what people can get scared of or prevent them from trying a cupping treatment. The marks afterwards can look dark and scary - and the result afterwards seems it would be worse than the treatment itself.🙅🏼‍♀️ However, that is far from true.

What‘s the point of cupping then?🧐
The suction that the cups have on the body, helps to separate the skin, fascia and muscle, allowing the non-circulating stagnant blood and fluids from the treatment area to come up to the surface of the skin to be flushed out. When the old toxins are removed, it creates space for oxygen rich blood and lymphatic fluids to now flow easier to and through the targeted area to help promote healing and ease of movement.

The marks you see after indicate that there is stagnant blood in that area, meaning blood is circulating poorly due to tightness or other issues. The darker the spots are, the more stagnant blood there is there, cups help bring that to the surface to get flushed out. They are NOT bruises, there is no trauma to the area, and they should not hurt.🚫 If you don’t mark up, that does not mean cupping “didn’t work” for you. It did, it still stretches your tissues and kicks your lymphatic system into gear to keep toxins flowing out.🤸🏼‍♀️

Cupping isn’t ALL about improving circulation. I honestly use it more for the dynamic stretch it creates for your tissues underneath. It's also like a form of deep tissue, instead of pushing down hard, it's pulling all your tissue layers up using negative pressure. It feels amazing because it's stretching your sore spots out.💪🏼

Its interesting to not the more often you receive cupping treatments the less likely you are to have those dark marks as the old stagnation has already been brought up to the surface in previous treatments.✌🏼

The cupping TREATMENT itself is not that bad! It looks like it would be painful, but it’s really not.😘 Most people describe it as a very weird sensation, and that it actually feels good especially when the cups are released.😌✨

DEEP TISSUE✨

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again! 📩Save this post, reshare, or tag someone who needs to hear this!

⚠️There is a large difference between deep PRESSURE, and deep TISSUE work.

👉🏼Deep pressure is simply defined as pushing harder.
👉🏼Deep tissue can be defined with two words: slow & specific.

Some people think that “deep tissue massage” means that the therapist pushes as hard as possible with their elbow into the muscles. Some genuinely believe in the “no pain, no gain” mentality, that a massage is only effective if it causes pain.⚡️💥

🚨Here’s what needs to be clarified:

This is not only very inaccurate, but potentially harmful type of therapy. Such practices may bruise muscles, create a defensive reaction in a client’s body, and worsen pain cycles.❌❌❌

Creating a pain response also causes the body to guard and hold unnecessary pressure in other areas. When your body tenses up, your muscles are naturally resisting the pain and pushing back against the excessive pressure, not allowing the tension to relax and heal.🙅🏼‍♀️

🧠Recommended way to do this:

Swedish techniques are typically used to warm up the tissues, softening the superficial layers so that they can access the deeper ones more easily.
👇🏼
Then employs a very *slow and sustained* type of stroke to effectively work the deeper tissues. Slow, specific strokes are what can change fascia and muscle tissue from a short, hardened state to a lengthened, fluid state.🌀 Personally I like to incorporate some slow stretching in addition. The work may sometimes be intense, creating a moderate discomfort as old adhesions and chronic dysfunctional patterns are changed. But that leads to a much more fluid, easy sense and less stiff body.

This phrase IS appropriate then: “It hurts so good.”✨

A trained and skilled therapist will tailor your session based on your exact needs.🤓 The key to a gratifying experience is largely good communication and clarification of objectives.🗣🗣🗣 We promise, we WANT you to speak up if there is anything we can do to make your session more comfortable so that you have a positive experience.💞

Thank you for coming to my ted talk.🙏🏼

Who could use this right about now?🙋🏼‍♀️

Physical manipulation of tissue has two major physical effects👇🏼

👉🏼Relaxation and normalization of the soft tissue (muscle, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments), which releases nerves and deeper connective tissues

👉🏼Increase in blood and lymph circulation

👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
All with a goal of slowing down your nervous system, manual therapy can be used to release tension, provide relief from symptoms, help heal injuries, and support wellness.✨ Work on the problem tissue, lengthen it, and break down the adhesions until a normal range of movement and proper posture can be restored, all while increasing blood flow which feeds your cells with both oxygen and nutrients to promote healing. Relax, release, reset, repeat🪄✨

⚠️ALERT!⚠️

I have finally opened my books and online booking is open! You may schedule appointments for up to 3️⃣ months out at a time.🚨

🔗LINK in bio to book🔗

FYI--

1. Football season is coming to an end, but because we reached play offs my schedule is still a little unknown. I have blocked off days that I may need to work with the team, if those days are not required I will open my schedule up to every one else. SKOL!

2. I have a few tentative trips coming up in February and March, so I have blocked off time accordingly. I have yet to finalize some details, and once I do I will open days up to book if I'll still be in town.

👉🏼So keep an eye on my schedule online and check back to see if any dates have opened that weren't open before!👈🏼

3. I have a waitlist now online you can join if you're not seeing dates that work. This works best for me to fill cancellations.

4. I'm trying to take it easy this off season (not sure if that's possible for me, so we'll see🤪) so I have blocked off Friday's for an admin day, as well as make that day my client overflow day if needed.

5. I will work one Saturday a month from here on out. You will have to schedule with me directly to book if this is the only day that works for you.

6. New clients are required from here on out to book a 90 minute session for their first initial appointment.

7. If you come in to see me, I highly recommend prebooking your next appointment right then and there if you don't have another one set up.

8. Never hesitate to reach out to me personally to see what I have available! I’m always happy to help!💞

9. If you're schedule doesn't mesh well with mine, my other two girls at may be able to see you in their schedule! Both Paige and Nikki are fantastic.

I apologize for my crazy schedule, but I SO appreciate you all for being SO accommodating and flexible with me. I'm so grateful for all of you and you're support! You guys are the absolute best and I truly cherish each of you :)

Cheers to 2023!🥂✨

Throw back post to when I worked at an orthopedic clinic👩🏼‍⚕️ I saw a lot of post-op surgery patients. I miss it so much! I love the challenge of a complicated issue🤓

What I noticed with shoulder surgeries is that they may take their sweet time healing. Sometimes people may experience a “frozen” shoulder- limited range of motion, stiffness, feeling like it’s stuck, not being able to rotate your arm out or lift above you head, annoying long healing time which comes with frustration.⛄️

If I get one of these on my table, working the entire shoulder girdle is a huge game changer. From working right on your shoulder blade, to the attachments of muscles, to sticking my hand in your arm pit.😅 Another way I have had success improving range of motion is by the use of CUPS.✨ When a blanket of cups go over the shoulder area, almost instantaneously the range of motion is improved.📈

Check out the before and after above!☝🏼

I often had people in disbelief their shoulder is moving beyond their “normal” range of motion. So WHY??🧐

Cupping therapy uses suction to:
🔺create more pressure
🔺increase the stretch to fascia
🔺stretch muscle fibers to reduce tension
All with minimal to no discomfort.

Some say it’s magic, and I honestly would have to agree. 🪄✨✨

You don’t have to had surgery to see me (although if you had hit me up😆)- I see people everyday with some sort limited range of motion. Let’s work on it together!👏🏻

*Full consultation and through assessment takes place first to make sure this is the right treatment for you* 🫶🏼
