Very exciting news! See you in Colden!
I was excited to visit Aurora Adult Day Services and spread more Valentine's joy from our local students! The programs at Aurora Adult Day Services serve to enhance the lives of seniors with cognitive and/or physical impairments, providing crucial support not only to seniors but also to caregivers. I've witnessed firsthand the impact their services can make—my grandfather found joy there, giving my grandmother much-needed relief from full-time caregiving. A big thank you to Susan and her incredible team for their dedication! I'm thrilled to hear about their upcoming expansion to Colden. Looking forward to collaborating with them more in the future!
Aurora Adult Day Services will be closed today. ❄

We welcome the warm weather but it can be dangerous for older adults.
Extreme Heat: Older Adults More Susceptible to Dangers The New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) is urging older New Yorkers and their family members to take precautions in extreme heat, as high temperatures and humidity, coupled with COVID-19, can create hazardous conditions for older adults.

“There are only four kinds of people in this world, those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers, and those who will need caregivers.” Rosalynn Carter.
At Aurora Adult Day Services we assume a caregiver role every day for our clients. It is a role that we take great pride in. We see people each day that, without our program, would be residing in a long term care facility. We take time to truly get to know our clients. Often, the person we come to know and understand is very different from the person they once were. Additionally, temperaments can change significantly over the course of the day. Our staff members are very effective at managing this dynamic. One may think “what a selfless group of people”, but it is quite the contrary. We receive more than we give, every day. There are moments that are too powerful and too beautiful to articulate. We keep them to ourselves. And we come back for more. For this, we are incredibly grateful to our clients, and their families.
