It is with great heartache that we must announce that MiDOG, the organization, has decided to dissolve. The sole purpose of our organization was to establish a dog park in our wonderful city of Eastpointe. Since this has been accomplished, we feel our job as a group is complete. The three of us have been dedicated from the very beginning and it is now time for us to enjoy the park that we worked so hard to achieve.
THE DOG PARK WILL REMAIN OPEN. From this point on, all inquiries and concerns should be directed to The Recreation Authority of Roseville & Eastpointe (RARE) at 586-445-5480.
MiDOG would like to thank all the residents, businesses, and our family and friends who have supported this venture and helped with fundraising, donations, or volunteered in park projects. We are so very proud of this accomplishment and hope to see it around for years to come!
Very Truly Yours,
Elizabeth Marabate, Eleanor Neihoff, and Bethany Koenig
The November Etiquette Classes at R.A.R.E. are November 14th at 7:00 p.m. and November 17 th at 11:00 a.m. Please contact R.A.R.E. 586-445-5480 to register.
There are no classes in December. Happy Holidays .
Operation Teach.Play.Love. was a huge success! Thank you to all the volunteers that came out to help install the agility equipment. We had the most perfect day - no rain and not too hot! I believe MiDOG Park is the ONLY dog park in Macomb County that has agility equipment (still researching that..) If you want to join our park, our October etiquette classes for this month are Wednesday the 10th at 7pm and Saturday the 13th at 11am. Check out our website for further details! Here are some pictures from that day.
Just wanted to send a friendly reminder that Operation Teach. Play. Love. will be taking place this Saturday. If anyone is willing to help, we could use some extra tools so that we can hopefully work on multiple pieces of equipment at the same time:
Digging Tools
Level
5/32" Allen Wrench (T-nut)
7/32" Allen Wrench
9/16" Socket Wrench
5/8" Socket Wrench
Hammers
Rubber Mallets
C-Clamp
Wheelbarrow
We will have snacks, water, and coffee to keep us fueled. Start time is 9:00 am. We are hoping to have enough people to get the job done in one day.
PLEASE NOTE: The park will be closed this day because of all the activity going on. The gates may be open for a period of time and there will be food in the park which may cause some aggression in dogs.
Hot Diggety Dog! Project "Teach.Play.Love." will soon be underway. Stay tuned....
Great information here!

Our monthy MiDOG board meeting will take place at 7pm tonight at the dog park. The public is always welcome at our meetings but we are eager to get more participation, so we brought the meeting to the park for a change. Come see what's going on!
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, we will be following a new protocol for incidents at the dog park.
If an incident is of a serious nature and warrants reporting and subsequent investigation, the complainant must come in person to the Recreation Authority office to file an incident report in writing. No exceptions. Incident reports will no longer be taken over the phone.
In addition, key fobs for all involved parties will be immediately suspended until a thorough investigation is complete. This is not a punitive measure but rather a precautionary one. There have been multiple instances of repeated incidents before the initial incident report can be investigated. This is simply unsafe for everyone and absolutely must stop.
Dog parks are no different than other parks when it comes to self policing and appropriate behavior. If my child and I are enjoying the playground at a park and another child joins the playground and is making my child or me uncomfortable or even concerned for my child's safety then I take the responsible action of calmly and quickly leaving the park with my child and return another day. It really is that simple. I do not stay. I do not exchange unpleasant words. I do not request that the child be banned from the park.
Dog park patrons should leash their dogs and calmly exit the park if they are uncomfortable with another dog or person in the park. If an incident does occur, ALL PARTIES involved must immediately leash their dogs and exit the park. Do not remain in the park. If the incident is indeed serious and requires investigation, by all means, come in and complete an incident report. It is not our intention to discourage anyone from doing so.
It is our sincere hope that everyone will continue to enjoy the dog park in a responsible manner.
