Eau Claire Sober Living

Every Thursday night brings me joy. No matter what is happening in my life these ladies inspire me, make me laugh and allow me to just be me. It’s is a balm to my soul!

But enough about me! This week we celebrated 1 year clean and sober with Miss Terri!! She has a huge heart and is always helping others while working on her own self worth. She’s reconnected to her son and building a beautiful life without needing to escape. Thank you for inspiring us Terri and Happy 1 year sober Birthday!!

This is SO true! I used to use my mind and focus to see all the barriers to my highest and best self and Joy.

Now I use it to see all the good that surrounds me and the ways that life is supporting me in all things!

This is what happens on Family nights at ECSL when Hannah Koshak from Wholesome Endeavors comes to teach us about healing our bodies with what we eat. We run out of spoons!!! Yummy sweet potato black bean chili was amazing and homemade sourdough bread!

This week we celebrated this amazing Woman Crystal Swanson (she’s in the tiara) as she hit a HUGE milestone of one year clean and sober!! I have had the pleasure of watching her grow. Seeing her overcome challenges and learn to embrace life on life’s terms. She has done it by asking for help, listening to others on the same path, finding ways to mange big emotions and not giving up on herself! She has become who she was always meant to be and I am beyond proud to have her managing the Rose house. Crystal you are a gift!

THANK YOU to all of you who supported our lovely new lady!! She is amazed and humbled by the outpouring of generous people who would help a stranger. You all made our hearts swell with Gratitude!!!💖♥️

Giving is just as important as receiving!
Living one of the recovery principals of helping someone else, we spent one of our family nights making a wish come true for one of our staff. Robert Goodland our Equine coach has always wanted to take cookies to the fire departments at the holidays(he’s a retired firefighter and paramedic) So we made it happen! The ladies worked hard baking and decorating cookies. And the firefighters were happy to oblige and eat them!

FAMILY NIGHT!! I Love Thursday night family night where the ladies have dinner and then we gather to learn. This week we had the wonderful Jesse Podolak. Jesse is a physical therapist who specializes in living with chronic pain (pain is pain emotional, mental or physical). She taught on Richard Schwartz’s Internal Family systems. We did an art piece with our names and the 8 parts of your core self that is always there but often is unrecognized or forgotten about.

Yesterday we were honored to be the recipient of a donation from Chippewa Valley Correctional treatment Facility. They choose non-profits to give back to in the community. It was great to meet part of the team to talk, give a tour and share practices! Thank you for choosing EC Sober Living!!

It was a morning full of happy tears and heart tugs as we gathered to celebrate Dakota Johnson graduating from drug court in EC county. The drug court program is an alternative to jail time. It requires hours of education, therapy and accountability. It is an intense program and paired with Eau Claire sober living created the support that Dakota needed to finally attain lasting sobriety after 15 years of struggle. So proud of you Dakota and thrilled to have you managing the Raven house!

Thursday night family night we got to connect and be inspired by the amazing Julie Wilson! Julie is starting a women’s recovery group in Eau Claire begining October 10th at the YMCA. Julie shared some of her story and how she is turning her struggle into something magical to support other women in Recovery with the tools that helped her.

The Holistic Psychologist (on Instagram) has so much beautiful wisdom that rings true for many of us that acknowledge our traumas and are trying to work with them to heal. 💖

It was a most humbling week of receiving gift after gift for Eau Claire Sober Living! It started with Northwestern Bank giving us a generous donation!! Thank you Jerry Jacobson and Tracey Smiskey!!! This will allow us to buy refrigerators and a couple of beds for the house and the women who are coming. Each of these gifts deserve their own posts so stay tuned for the next one!!

HUGE Thank you to Tyler Heath and his company Dan the Moving Man for the donation of hauling things to our newest sober home!! Every donation, every gift of time or money I share with our Women and we are all deeply touched by those that are supporting us! Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Thursday Night family night here at ECSL with Heidi Garborg-Mueller was a success of course! The women in the house who smoke or v**e were challenged to leave their Vapes and/or ci******es at home during their walk! Of course the women rocked that s**t! 💪

Exercise, even just a 45 minute to an hour walk, is good for the body, mind and soul. Staying in touch with nature and all of the beautiful benefits it has to offer us is important for our health, our wellbeing and for our spirituality, whatever that may look like to you.

We ended our evening with grounding ourselves to the earth with a guided meditation by Heidi and being aware of our body.

Another great day for ECSL! Started out with coffee where I got to meet Dr. Lona Cook, Elizabeth Gustavson and Representative Jesse James who asked if he could come to our coffee and hear more about ECSL and the Recovery needs! Then it was delivering a meal to Evolving Wellness for their teen center and wrapped up with an Amazing sound healing with Kat Mason at UME studio and Ramone’s Ice Cream. Life is SO good in Recovery!!!💖🎉❤️

We received a grant from the Eau Claire Community Eau Claire Community Foundation!! So grateful for their support and belief in our mission to help those in Recovery!!
