AATF member S. Ogu is looking for participants for her research study. Please see the information below and contact her if interested:

Title of Project: A Delphi Study Exploring Best Practices to Engage and Motivate Foreign Language Students to Develop Language Fluency
Researcher: Sylveria I. Ogu [email protected]
Doctoral Student, The University of Arizona Global Campus
Dissertation Chair: Dr. Joanna Vance at [email protected]
IRB Number: IRB 24-041-UAGC
Purpose of the Study: The purpose of this Qualitative Delphi study will be to explore best practices to engage and motivate high school students in foreign language learning to become fluent in the language they are learning. This study will evaluate those practices teachers can use to make learning a foreign language more effective and to engage and motivate students to develop language fluency. The outcome of this study may contribute to the body of knowledge on best practices to engage and motivate students' foreign language learning.
Using the Delphi technique, the researcher will seek opinions and consensus from foreign language experts on best practices for engaging and motivating students to develop language fluency. The findings of this study may contribute to new ideas about the best ways to engage students in foreign language learning. These findings will also contribute to a better understanding of why students do not develop fluency after studying a foreign language. To effectively respond to what strategies foreign language teachers, need to engage and motivate their students, foreign language experts need to arrive at a consensus to identify effective strategies.
1 Characteristics of Potential Participants: Potential participants should be foreign language curriculum experts, instructional managers, language coordinators, and other foreign language learning experts with three or more years in their positions. All potential participants must have a knowledge of foreign language learning and have a master’s degree in a related field. There will be no compensation for participation in the study. One of the benefits of this study is to encourage school administrators to implement strategies and approaches to engage and motivate foreign language students. The results may also increase interest in better preparing foreign language teachers to engage and motivate students to develop fluency.
2 With the expertise of foreign language experts, consensus can be sought about the effective ways to engage and motivate foreign language students to develop language fluency. Also, this consensus will add to the growing body of literature on developing foreign language students’ fluency.
3 Voluntary Participation: Your decision to participate in this research is voluntary. You may withdraw from the study at any time without penalty. Please, inform me of your decision to withdraw if you wish to do so. If eventually you do withdraw from the study, informed consent documents will be retained, but all other data will be destroyed.
Consent to Participation:
If you accept to participate in this study, please acknowledge that you have been in your current position for three or more years and have a master’s degree. The researcher will be communicating to you through your email throughout the study period.
If you meet the selection criteria, a demographic form will be sent to you to fill out. Upon the receipt of your filled demographic form, the Informed Consent link from SurveyMonkey will be sent to you to complete and return and subsequently the first round of the study questions will also be sent to you.
Thank you for your time and anticipated contribution to my research. By signing this letter, you agree to use your email to communicate with the researcher throughout the study period. Please, return your signed form through the researcher’s email below.
Sincerely,
Sylveria Ogu
