We're proud to announce the promotion of Deputy Chief Gabriel Espinoza to Assistant Chief of the Edinburg Fire Department! A lifelong Edinburg resident, Assistant Chief Espinoza began his firefighting journey as a volunteer in 2000 and joined the department full-time in 2003. Beginning at 7 P.M. along Closner Boulevard, the Night of Lights Parade will dazzle attendees with beautifully crafted floats that capture the warmth and charm of a country Christmas. From cowboy boots to holiday tunes, each float will celebrate timeless country traditions blended with the joy of the season.

The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the distinguished recipients of the 2024 awards, who will be honored at the 92nd Annual Installation and Awards Banquet on November 13, 2024. This elegant event, themed “007 Soirée,” will be held at the Memorial Event Center, 208 E. Canton Rd, Edinburg, TX 78539.

The banquet will celebrate a year of achievements and mark the official induction of the Chamber’s new leadership. We will recognize Kelly Rivera Salazar, our Immediate Past President, for her outstanding service and welcome Ruben James De Jesus as the new President of the Board. This night will also honor exceptional community leaders who have made a lasting impact in Edinburg.

Congratulations 2024 Award Winners!
2024 Man of the Year: Chasse Conque
Chasse Conque, Vice President and Director of Athletics at UTRGV Athletics, has been named Man of the Year for his outstanding contributions to the university’s athletic department. Under Conque’s leadership, UTRGV Athletics has seen exponential growth, including a 60% increase in attendance across all sports and a record-breaking $24.5 million in generated revenue in 2024. Notable achievements during his tenure include UTRGV's volleyball team winning the 2022 Western Athletic Conference Championship and the department securing the 2022-23 South Texas Showdown Championship.

Additionally, Conque has fostered partnerships with local businesses, including the first-ever branded beer in the UT System—Los Vaqueros from 5x5 Brewing Co., and the UTRGV debit card through Texas Regional Bank, helping increase UTRGV Athletics' presence throughout the Valley.


2024 Woman of the Year: Marsha Green
Marsha Green, Vice President of Marketing at Bert Ogden Rio Grande Valley , is honored as Woman of the Year for her remarkable career and dedication to the Rio Grande Valley community. With over 36 years in the automotive industry, including 27 years with Bert Ogden, Green has been a key player in maintaining the dealership’s position as the Valley’s leading automotive group. Green has not only contributed to business success but also devoted herself to numerous philanthropic efforts. As she prepares to retire in December 2024, her legacy of mentorship, community engagement, and perseverance will inspire future generations.

Pride of Edinburg Award: South Texas Health System Edinburg
South Texas Health System (STHS) receives the Pride of Edinburg Award for its commitment to delivering top-notch healthcare and enriching the local community. With five locations in Edinburg, including STHS Edinburg, which has been named a Best Regional Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for three consecutive years, STHS continues to set the standard for healthcare in the Rio Grande Valley. Their dedication extends beyond clinical care, with community outreach initiatives such as the Let’s Talk Mental Health and Let’s Talk Children’s Health webinars and numerous events like STHS Children’s Safe Summer Expo.


Best Community Event: Edinburg RotaryClub “Bayou Brewfest”
The Best Community Event award goes to the Bayou Brewfest, hosted by the Rotary Club of Edinburg. This event, which brings the community together for an evening of food, music, and fun, has raised significant funds for local organizations like the Boys & Girls Club of Edinburg and provided scholarships for local students. The Rotary Club’s dedication to service shines through in events like Bayou Brewfest, which has become a beloved tradition.

Small Business of the Year: Top Texas Title LLC
Top Texas Title is recognized as Small Business of the Year for its leadership, innovation, and unwavering commitment to the Edinburg community. Through various philanthropic efforts and active involvement in the Chamber, Top Texas Title exemplifies excellence and community spirit, demonstrating that success in business is intertwined with giving back.

Hometown Hero Award: Alfredo “Freddy” Salazar
Alfredo “Freddy” Salazar, a Marine Corps veteran and lifelong Edinburg resident, is honored as Hometown Hero for his selfless service to veterans. Salazar has dedicated his life to ensuring veterans in the Edinburg area receive the support they need. Through his outreach initiatives, he has provided countless veterans with access to healthcare, mental health counseling, job training, and housing assistance. His tireless advocacy for veterans’ rights continues to inspire and strengthen the Edinburg community.

Best Newcomer Award: MAXX Claims Public Adjusters
Maxx Claims Public Adjusters is recognized with the Best Newcomer Award for making a swift and significant impact within the Edinburg business community. This award honors the fresh energy and dedication Maxx Claims has brought to the Chamber, contributing to the growth and success of local businesses.

Ambassador of the Year: Omar Govea
Omar Govea, owner of Tex Mex Food Mart, has been named Ambassador of the Year for his outstanding commitment and advocacy on behalf of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce. Since becoming a Chamber Ambassador in 2023, Govea has consistently gone above and beyond in supporting the Chamber’s initiatives and helping the membership committee achieve its goals.

Excellence in Education Award: The Discovery School RGV
For 50 years, Discovery School has nurtured students in a Montessori-based environment that promotes independence, curiosity, and creativity. Discovery School is celebrated with the Excellence in Education Award for its unwavering commitment to fostering academic excellence and its long-standing impact on the Edinburg community.
