This past weekend, our chapter's BAP officers attended the BAP Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida!
We had a wonderful time attending the many presentations and speakers during our time!
Don't forget that tomorrow is our last meeting of the semester with Ernst & Young, where they will be talking to us about Tips for Success!

This past Thursday, we attended the SIUE Kimmel Award Night, and our chapter got 2nd place for enterprise mobility student organization of the year! Along with this, Dr. Marc Ortegren, our faculty advisor, received the faculty advisor of the semester for spring 2024! Congratulations to all BAP members who received scholarships and other awards this night!
Throughout this semester, our members have had the pleasure to volunteer at various areas. Whether that be the St. Louis Cardinals 4A Greener Game, or Restore Decor, our members always find a way to give back!
Yesterday was our first ever BAP Trivia Night! We had lots of fun, and congratulations to the faculty for winning it all! Thank you to everyone who attended!
A special thank you to Avail Professional Services for coming in to talk with us yesterday! We had a wonderful time discussing tax codes.

Meet this week's member spotlight, Talyer Utley!
Tayler was nominated for her continuous active status as a candidate of BAP and her consistent attendance during professional meetings and always attending our service opportunities!
Tayler is a Sophomore Accounting student with a projected graduation this Fall 2026 where she will also be CPA eligible, and plans on taking the CPA exam. She is currently not interning at any firms, but she is excited to see what opportunities are available. Tayler’s most recent achievement is being promoted to Assistant Manager for Cutco St. Louis!
Tayler’s favorite part about BAP are the volunteer nights at Restore Decor, because who knew how peaceful it could be! She also loves how welcoming everyone apart of BAP is to new members.
This week's member spotlight is Kanji Fahmida!
Kanji was nominated for her continuous active status as a candidate of BAP and her consistent attendance during professional meetings!
Kanji is a Graduate Accounting student with a projected graduation this Spring 2025 where she will also be CPA eligible. She is currently not interning at any firms, but she is excited to see what opportunities are available. A recent achievement of Kanji’s is that she was elected as the recipient of the Beta Alpha Psi Scholarship!
Kanji’s favorite part about BAP is attending the professional meetings with CPA firms. She has been learning a lot about Accounting firms, their activities, and work environments. Because of attending the professional meeting, she has now decided to pursue her CPA for her career.

Meet this week's Member Spotlight, Matthew Gloger!
Matthew was nominated for her continuous active status as a lifetime member and his consistent attendance during professional meetings!
Matthew is a Senior Accounting student with a projected graduation this Spring 2025 where he will also be CPA eligible. He is currently not interning at any firms, but he is excited to see what opportunities are available!
Matthew’s favorite part about BAP is how it has helped him find a sense of community, further develop his soft skills, and explore professional opportunities beyond college. He says that he is far less anxious about the start of his professional career due to the support provided by BAP.

Meet this week's member spotlight, Peyton Westfall!
Peyton was nominated for her continuous active status as a lifetime member and his consistent attendance during professional meetings!
Peyton is a Junior Accounting student with a projected graduation this Fall 2024 with his undergraduate degree, but at the moment is undecided on taking the CPA exam or when to take the exam. He recently received a 4.0 this past semester (Fall 23). He also was able to talk to the IRS at networking night and that is something that piqued his interest in a CJ role of accounting. He is currently interning at Scheffel Boyle in tax during the busy season.
Peyton’s favorite part about BAP is being able to meet companies on a weekly basis that could be his future employer. Another part that he loves about BAP is being able to give back to his community while with friends.

Meet our next Member Spotlight, Alexa Montante!
Alexa was nominated for her continuous active status as a lifetime member and her consistent attendance to service hours and professional meetings!
Alexa is a Junior Accounting student with a projected graduation this Spring 2025 with her undergraduate degree, where she will also be CPA eligible upon graduation. She was named to the Fall 2023 Dean's list while staying involved on campus through Beta Alpha Psi, Alpha Phi Omega, and Hispanic Student Union. She had an audit internship with KEB in Summer 2023, and will be doing another audit internship with Deloitte in Summer 2024!
Alexa’s favorite part of BAP is the outlet provided to create connections with potential future employers, as well as accounting peers. Especially, the advantage BAP offers at Meet the Firms with distributed resumes that ultimately led to my internship with KEB last summer!

Meet our next Member Spotlight, Rachel Lay!
Rachel was nominated for her continuous active status when it comes to showing up to meetings and service opportunities, her willingness to learn, and her dedication to BAP as a freshman!
Rachel is a Freshman Accounting student with a projected graduation this Spring 2027 with her undergraduate degree, and plans on going into Graduate School, where she will graduate in May 2028, where her goal is to take the CPA exam in the future. She currently does not have any internships, but is looking forward to seeing all of the opportunities available through SIUE and our BAP chapter!
Rachel’s favorite part of BAP is how she has been able to make connections with people and firms in the accounting field. Attending meetings as a freshman has taught her about the opportunities that an accounting career offers!

Meet this week's BAP member spotlight, Jessica Foreman!
Jessica was nominated for her continuous active status within Beta Alpha Psi, as she is also always showing up to our meetings with great character and wonderful energy!
Jessica is a Senior Accounting student with a projected graduation this Winter 2024 with her undergraduate degree, where she will have tentative eligibility for the CPA Exam. She is currently a tax intern at Anders CPA + Advisors. Her latest achievement was being initiated into BAP last semester!
Jessica’s favorite part of BAP is how it has allowed her to create new friendships and meet new people! BAP is part of the reason as to why she acquired her internship, and it has prepared her for how different firms operate and has shown her the direction that she wants to go when she starts her career!

Meet our second Member Spotlight of the week, Cameron Conrad!
Cameron was nominated for his continuous active status within Beta Alpha Psi, as he is also always showing up to our meetings with great character!
Cameron is a Senior Accounting student with a projected graduation this Spring 2024 in his undergraduate, then will finish the graduate program at University of Notre Dame, where he will then be eligible to sit for the CPA exam by May 2025! He is currently interning at Scheffel Boyle in the Edwardsville office.
Cameron’s favorite part about BAP is the relationships he has formed not only with his peers, but also business professionals across the area. He enjoys listening to our speakers and has learned valuable information from their various presentation topics. In addition to our weekly meetings, He feels that attending the BAP sponsored events has helped prepare him for life post-graduation.

Meet one of our BAP Member Spotlight of the wrek, Brylee Mueller!
Brylee was nominated for his continuous active status within Beta Alpha Psi, as he is also always showing up to our meetings with great character! He is also always willing to help out officers with anything they need!
Brylee is a senior accounting student with a projected graduation this Spring 2024 in his undergraduate, then will finish the graduate program to complete his 150 credits to be CPA eligible in December 2024. Currently, he is on his second internship at FORVIS as a tax intern, and will be going back for his third with them in the summer! Concurrently, Brylee is the SIUE Campus Ambassador for FORVIS.
Brylee’s favorite part about BAP is the opportunities it provides for members. Through various BAP events, Brylee has been able to learn more about what different firms offer, and he has been able to build a stronger network with peers. Being able to connect with other members and ask for advice or recommendations has helped him to get to where he is now.
