We are committed to providing exemplary services at the lowest possible cost; however, fee increases are necessary from time to time to approach cost recovery. Biodiversity plays a huge role in agriculture, it helps produce healthy soils, facilitates pollinators, and eases pest control. When an area has high levels of biodiversity it will also have healthy, nutrient rich soils which lead to better crops.
Our office will be closed this coming Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day.
Just a reminder that pesticide permits expire June 30th. Thank you for your cooperation! 😊
Price verification inspections will be starting soon, above is a brief summary as to why these inspections are necessary and beneficial.
Staffers Christian Duarte and Francisco Rodriguez provided a w**d tour for the Commissioner, Jolene Dessert, and Asst. Commissioner, Rachel Garewal, last week. The crew made their way to Salton City to visit a site where the A-rated w**d, Volutaria tubuliflora (aka desert knapw**d) has been found repeatedly since 2020. Staff have returned to this site from year-to-year to control the spread of this w**d in Imperial County and prevent broader establishment in irrigated areas of the county. This invasive w**d is only found in a small portion of California and nowhere else in the North America. It germinates after winter rains and bolts quickly in spring when conditions become dry.
